In our arrogance
We must admit
The disqualifications
Of our wits
The foundation
Of our operative minds
Subjectively trapped
In space and time

A claim to know
A mere belief
Ripened, fallen
Dying leaf
Landing on
The forest floor
There my love
I know no more

Thoughts of you
I cannot consign to words
The day we met,
The nights I want to forget
You were the fire that
Turned me into ash
I was a dream
That never came true
And as I watched you slip away
Before my eyes
Far, far away from my reach
That I realized,
I couldn’t keep something that
Wasn’t meant for me
But in my heart
I prayed for you to stay
And on a rainy day,
We did finally fade away

Perched high above the city.
Watching the days pass.

How many times in life
Have you thought, what about me
Looking for a place to find
A spot to fill a need

Hoping for a sign
Any way to deal
Soon enough will come to light
As we're all spokes in this wheel

One works with another
Holding each other in place
In the spinning of life
In this running of race

With your saying what can I do
I'm telling you, you are a big deal
Life would wobble if it wasn't for you
As we're all spokes in this wheel

You help keep it turning
With a yearning to your wonder of why
Continually in the searching
Up till the day that you die

Now that you know your purpose
It being that you're here to help
Makes it all very worth it
As we're all spokes in this wheel

Did you enjoy your life
This time through?
Perhaps next time
I could come with you
Into a world
Of love and peace
The two of us as
Sentient beings
Living and loving
Never a regret
Surely an existence
  We haven't had yet...
Holding on forever
To a familiar role
Connected by a spirit
Of poetic souls

I’m learning to walk again...

It’s been awhile since
the earth consumed my knees
and I had seen myself breathing in mud.

I’ve struggled,
thrashed about
and broken what little I had.

I’m learning to walk again...

It’s been awhile since
I’ve lost myself.
It’s been ages since
I knew where to begin.

I’ve risen,
fallen...
Risen again
and again
fuelled by
what little hope I have left.

I’m learning to walk again...

It’s been awhile since
I found myself
flourishing in the warmth of day
and consoled by the comfort of night.

I’ve lived through many hours...
And I wish to survive my many more...
With what little strength I have left.
Inspired by Foo Fighter’s “Walk”.
