sometimes,
when we lay between the sheets
i forget the hours that tick by,
while you lay and keep watch.
your heart beat ticking
as the clock's hands wave by.

sometimes,
in a drunken haze,
the only prayer i can think to recite
is your name;
though you utter another's.

sometimes,
i thought i saw that minute twinkle in your eyes,
that died out long before
i had the chance to inscribe it;
sometime between those weary nights
and sleepless mornings,
stained with unspoken promises and
clouded regret.

sometimes,
i think you forget-
that my heart was always yours to keep,
though yours kept ticking
while mine remained frozen in time.

Pleasure erupts,
from the contact your hand makes upon my skin.

Goosebumps arise,
from the gentle nip of your teeth
against my neck.

Consoling me,
of the aching that is to come.
Acceptance dawns,
apparent in the gleam in my eyes.

Anticipation,
like slow, drawled out suffering.
I quiver,
with the waves of longing that engulf me.

Sends me to another dimension;
Lost somewhere,
between the sheets and the shadows,
that light dares not touch.

Again and again it strikes.
You always win.
And carelessly,
I want more.
I will always want more.

Late, once more.
My feet stomp across the pavement.
Smoke rises from the cigarette,
as if punctuating my frustration.

Comprehending,
my head begins to hurt.
I ache.
Ache with the knowledge that
your fragrance is intermingled with hers upon your arrival.
A smell that emphasizes my bitterness.
Utter disapproval.

Without a word,
I know.
I knew.
You would be late,
once more.

You have brows like bushes,
eyelashes like webs.
Shoulders like a steep cliff,
arms like bridges.
Ears like deep wells,
endless and bottomless
in sight.

Snout filled with cigarette grain,
and the breaths
you seem to hide away.

You have hair like a little girl's soft eyelash,
falling down upon her innocent cheek.

Your chest heaves;
I am lost listening to the pulse that brings you back to me.

You lay like a child;
I do not feel the need to engulf you.

I allow you to exist just so.
In your land of banana hammocks,
and bittersweet stars.

I graze the freshly cut grass
of your chin.
I see the lines of shadow
remain permanent on the concrete,
and my mind goes on in complacency.

Gradually -
I keep tumbling,
further down the hills of
dead grass
and unspoken ink,
to join you.

My breathing picks up
when you swing your hand and in a second,
makes contact with my bare skin.

Your tongue makes its way
into my depth- with synchronized kissing.
Clouding my thoughts.

Snakes wrapped themselves around my body.
Tiny flicks around my ear.
My hearing is barricaded with
heavy breathing
and muffled cries.

Strong iron clamps around my neck,
constricting my breathing
and thrusts ever so violent.

My nails,
they dig into the sheets.
Knuckles turn white.
My cheeks are tinged,
with lipstick shade red.

Fast-paced,
synchronized dancing in compromising positions.
Sweat covered sheets,
strong aroma of love.
Hazy eyes,
deep breaths.
Chest heaving slowly,
as arms fall to the sides.

White sheets seeping,
when bodies are intertwined.
You whisper words of affection,
deceit.

And you lay there -
full from your so called love.
When all that really made you full,
was the knowledge -
the power
over my willfull submission.
