i’ve been thinking a lot
about your hand in mine
the way that our fingers
and palms intertwine

but i think about death
about loss, about worth
i admit that i fear
to return to the earth

where our bodies dissolve
into roots of a tree
and will grow into trunk
then limb, then leaf

but i've heard from a bird
that death will reverse
and your heart will beat hard
like it did at your birth

so hold on for dear life
with your hand in mine
if death makes us let go
it is only for time

Alone and afraid
she huddles against the wall,
please don’t let him find me
not this time, I wasn’t bad at all.

Hands reach down
grab her by the hair,
she feels the first hit
there’s pain everywhere.

She cries out loud
but nobody hears,
and if they did
it fell on deaf ears.

Left bruised and bleeding
laying on the floor,
all because she forgot
to lock the front door.

She’s all alone
in pain and full of fear,
why won’t anyone help her
does no body hear?.

She’s seven years old
her life a living hell,
and not one neighbor
will pick up the phone and tell.

~And she flies to a place where she’s loved~
Have you ever wondered what goes through an abused child’s head?
It’s fear, confusion, pain, a longing to be loved, to feel safe.

Every 10 seconds a report of Child Abuse is made and every day 5 Children die of Child Abuse just in the United States alone. Don’t look the other way, REPORT IT over and over again if you have too. They need a voice, be that Voice, be their Hero.  If you hear, see, or feel a Child is being Abused, pick up the phone and call 911 or The National Child Abuse Hotline- 1-800-4-A-CHILD (1-800-422-4453)

Sweet muse of creativity
shine your light on me,
help me find the words to write,
for all, I feel and see.

Let me describe a sunset
that enchanting scene in the sky,
such a breathtaking painting
so pleasing to the eye.

Let me tell of the rainbow
the majestic blend of hues,
the exquisite flow of colors
bringing such a beautiful view.

Let me write of the mountain tops
dressed in white sparkling snow,
the way it drifts through the trees
as the sun makes a twinkly glow.

Allow me to write of love
like it’s never been written before,
to touch the heart so deep
of the ones I truly adore.

Give to me the words to share
sweet beautiful muse of mine,
so I may share with the world
the beauty I see through rhyme.

Love can mend a broken heart
if you show love and believe,
and give that broken heart
the time it needs to grieve.

Sometimes broken trust
can break and shatter a soul,
but if you love and hold them tight
your love can make them whole.

Love and trust go hand in hand
give time for pain to heal,
for you will have the greatest gain
in a trusting love that’s real.

Inspired by Santita’s poem “All It Took”

Eye of newt
          toe of frog
                scale of snake
                              bark of dog.
A cauldron boiling
                         over an open blaze
its vapor makes
                        an eerie haze.
A pinch of this
        a pinch of that
              a magic broom
                    an old black cat.
Cobwebs
            Spiders
                  creaking floor
                       scary shadows
                                 on the door.
                                     Howling winds
                                  pouring rain
                              curtains lick
                        the window pane.
             Groans
          and
              moans
                      a Ghoulish scene…

TRICK OR TREAT, IT’S HALLOWEEN!!!

Inspired by good old Shakespeare’s three “weird sisters”, Scene I of Macbeth.

“Round about the cauldron go;
In the poison’d entrails throw.
Toad, that under cold stone
Days and nights hast thirty one
Swelter’d venom sleeping got,
Boil thou first i’ the charmed ***.
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and cauldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the cauldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
Adder’s fork, and blind-worm’s sting,
Lizard’s leg, and howlet’s wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and cauldron bubble.
Scale of dragon, tooth of wolf,
Witches’ mummy, maw and gulf
Of the ravin’d salt-sea shark,
Root of hemlock digg’d i’ the dark,
Liver of blaspheming Jew,
Gall of goat, and slips of yew
Sliver’d in the moon’s eclipse,
Nose of Turk, and Tartar’s lips,
Finger of birth-strangled babe
Ditch-deliver’d by a drab,
Make the gruel thick and slab:
Add thereto a tiger’s chaudron,
For the ingredients of our cauldron.
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and cauldron bubble.
Cool it with a baboon’s blood,
Then the charm is firm and good.”

conscience bequeaths I must amend this tale
of bravery to expose, I did nothing out of
this world nor above the call of a normal human
I only did what I saw was called for.

Bravery is a short-sighted woe of a fool
at times a man not thinking , seeing
someone in need I guess we have this blindless
to feel to go without thought impose

Our own cost of justice upon what we saw
and time has its limits for the mind
to fully digest, like a fine three-course dinner
we must have time for it to impress

but, once seen, once saw , once
the raw information progresses to the
pituitary gland and adrenaline
flows, instincts take over and we fight or fly

now this time, as this story digresses, I saw what I thought
was an insufferable transgression of a man
beating his dog alongside the road,
a Dalmatian she was, so I took his right arm and broke it.

I only spent one night in jail where they fed me bologna
Two pieces of bread and an apple.
Let me out the day after. And I have wondered
ever since what happened to the dog and
where that ******* is

I want to break his left arm, too!
