"kapok" poems
Often times I’m staring Awing in the curves of full blooming lips Carved jawbone covered with deepening dark moss The journey through the damp forest after warm rain It is all awake alive and breathing clearly Rising and falling like the rare drops from deciduous leaves I cannot tell you how inhuman you feel to me Your skin darkens around your eyes from nights up Long evenings too many and whiskey that never even made it to a cup Sometimes I cannot break a gaze from the casement around your pupil The pools of honey drip further toward me My feet find it impossible to remove themselves So much like quicksand but sweet calming and warm Smooth and simplistic in youth the way skin drapes Hangs over structured bones in the most phenomenal way Just as your eyes are lavished in graham brown You stay glowing even in the cold weather from blessed ancestry Down to tender arteries and muscle where I’ve placed lips a thousand times Shoulders swoop outwards like broad boulders Distinguishable markers play connect the dots toward inked surfaced skin Permanence of scarred lines forming a hot air balloon and anchor pulling it down It’s from your favorite band, I’m noticing synapses collide on the concept Elongated extended vines lead to tools that hold and create masterpieces Strong slender hands with fingertips that press and pluck strings Coat themselves with paint on late evening or early mornings Tread lightly on my skin and illuminate my face with a coaxing touch You are the rain forest from sunrise My heart thumps to the sense of danger behind a corner But I know such things and if they were to **** me, I would be treasured in becoming a tall Kapok With roots buried miles deep

~~ In the thick wet darkness Purple flowers are unknown Last songs of yellow days As if the anger of Lost spring, Standing at the end of the afternoon Embraces the eclipse Pale gray grass Dust dough days left alone Anguish drops around in the silence, As deep black clouds, That covers the sky With the blemish Drifted clouds drifting more Builds water flows Washes away A white rose And with the tears My white love Intact, Aloof But the lusterless time Moving with known unknown cradle Kapok, Flame-of-the-forest, Red Flamboyant Everything Stuck between Even my Eternal World Yet who calls from another way Not at the end of the bend, At the end of the way Even Earth Sun Moon, Where's all the ways mingle With so many different minds For another mystic reason ~~ @Musfiq us shaleheen

Thick wet darkness
Enchanted shore descendant Branch upon the kapok tree In forests of El Yunque The coqui songs compelling me To write of the Taino sol Still burning to be free From The Lion's sword that bled The pages of our history Stolen land attendant Encomienda living property From roots of our ancestral bones Was grown the crown's economy Then baptized in the crosses' greed They cleansed us of our savagery A genocide of cultures made Them rich with inhumanity Kept at bay our independent Luminescent solidarity   Then poured in streams of Lares cries To fields of pure cane tyranny Yet caverns of Camuy echoed The fleeting winds of liberty To tempest warships harboring A hurricane democracy By '98 dependent In '17  a new decree Final draft trenches fulfilled The ballot box with empty Then sharpened territory clause Reconstituted colony Campos prison cancer cell Vieques poisoned casualty Infecting the resplendent Contagious hope of sovereignty Pandemics of oppressions past Injecting present poverty Virulent exploitation plagues Still draining veins systemically Indebted to the parasites' Uncommon wealthy travesty

Taino Sol
The horse is dead. Long beyond flogging. It's skin was stripped by a couple of tanners. After being treated with tenderness. That horse was merely a hobby. An old broom handle. Minus emotions. A head full of kapok. And a heart made of wood. Nobody could love him. Nobody should. He ran around the stables. Knocking down the mares. Where once he had just knocked them up, As he was out to stud. The rag and bone man came to call. Saw him laying in the yard. Left his calling card. The child who once loved him so. Decided she must let him go. The rag man he received a call. Collected hobby horse. He gave her a bright and shiny quid. Slung him on the back of his cart. Stuck him in the shop window. While his mares passed by and laughed. By ladylivvi1 © 2013 ladylivvi1 (All rights reserved)

The Horse that Once Was!
so much time spent in forests maybe it was natural to want these plains of wheat, barley, rapeseed, concrete, but then, we build cities —we’re forest people still after the cedar, the oak after the oak, the pine, after the pine, the palm, the kapok… we’re good at turning things into names; at coding the world, then remaking it: we can cut an entire forest of kauri into the image of San Francisco

Six Sketches for a Wake #5
Lipa!

Kapeng Barako XVII (Panahong Karipas)

Panahong Karipas
Let's climb together Up this mango tree Let's rest at the top together Just you and me Next stop is the rainforest Where we can climb the heights of the Kapok Tree And wrestle the Red-Tailed Boa Just you and me Let's go to the wilderness of Alaska Where we can both be misunderstood together Have a talk with Sasquatch Who can share his secrets On how to fool the world Let's climb together
