"chid" poems
There was a caterpillar that had no friends
She feared she would be alone in the end
She had all, but given in
She stayed in a trees
And hid behind the leaves
Until she ate them, or there was a breeze
She had become so very fat
All the other insects made fun and spat
Out cruel words, she no longer wanted life and that was that
But before she could eat the poison leaf, along flew a hunny bee
"Hunny child you just dont see
That one day your gonna fly like me"
She looked at him in bewilderment
Surly his brain was a little bent
Wings for her would have to be heaven sent
But she decided to hold on a little longer
Just to prove he couldn't be wronger
That bee's words she would often ponder
The other insects still showed their hate
The more they said the more she ate
She knew they was right she'd never find a mate
So she made a cocoon, to hide herself within
So she no longer heard the words that could condemn
What awaited her would be hard to comprehend
The bee seen the cocoon, and sat and waited patiently
He wanted to be the very first to see
At what a beautiful creature she had came to be
When she emerged the sun hurt her eyes
Many a day had gone by
The sun seemed way to bright in the sky
But then she got a look at her wings, they where gray
"Why didn't God paint them, why are they this way"
At the bee in disgust she shouted, "You should of let me die that day"
"But my lovely one, you are now a creature of the night
And will fly by the enchanting moonlight
And see many many wonderful sights"
"Besides my hunny chid they're wings
You can now fly to the heavens and sing
Your point of view will now change on many things"
"God painted your wings gray
So in the bright of day
Against the tree bark you can lay
And safely sleep the day away"
"God only picks the strongest
To prowl in the moon lit darkness
He only picks the bravest
That at night can help with the loneliness"
The Moth bent her head in repentance
She couldn't even finish her sentence
For she realised in that instance
The bee was talking about her transcendence

I held a Jewel in my fingers—
And went to sleep—
The day was warm, and winds were prosy—
I said “’Twill keep”—
I woke—and chid my honest fingers,
The Gem was gone—
And now, an Amethyst remembrance
Is all I own—

When Julia chid I stood as mute the while
As is the fish or tongueless crocodile.
Air coin’d to words my Julia could not hear,
But she could see each eye to stamp a tear;
By which mine angry mistress might descry
Tears are the noble language of the eye.
And when true love of words is destitute
The eyes by tears speak, while the tongue is mute.

Mommy I'm afraid
The sky seems so dead these days
As if all its joy has just gone away
The birdies don't sing no more
And the waves don't crash like they use to
Mommy I'm afraid
The world seems so dead these days
As if all its joy has just gone away
But where ever the joy has gone to
I just hope it's not there to stay

...oh, I dunno, a variety of intros could suffice, whence, none might as well, no?
(sonnet #MMMMMMMCCCXLIII)
I caught the ghost of mists likeas a veil
Down in the valley where trees clustered thence
'Hind shifting white's detail, rain waltzing hence
Without a voice as't tiptoes 'cross the tale
Of weedy blacktop; firs mair silent, frail
Calm hanging 'til winds ply the Maples' dense
Green, and the distance lost to that suspense,
Whiles I chid rain for being light; to exhale.
You listen to--is't my complaints? and YOUR
Response of "you're amazing" fails me too.
So I wish to just kiss and tease you fer
All that to...chase me--which you say you'll do.
Right now seems but a pipe dream, mists in poor
'Scuse on what lies 'fore: I belong to YOU.

*She kept a list of her lovers
in her desk drawer
the one that locked.
The one that held
all of her secrets.
The list totaled seventeen.
Not bad she rationalised.
For a forty year old woman
divorced.
she had watched tv dramas
women in her position
had barhopped to fifty lovers
in a year.
but not her.
They ranged from
lovers she needed
lovers she wanted
to lovers who
could not pass from
one night to the other.
But the new neighbor
was different.
he had a daughter
twelve or so.
She had dropped a bag
of groceries the
eggs splatterered
he held her close
saying shushhh honey
its ok.
kissing her hair
Keeping her safe
and comforted.
Her ex never did that.
An hour later he appeared
with two more
bags of grocery.
She felt him watching
her slip into her pool.
She felt his eyes on her.
He appeared with
a bottle of wine.
Can I join you he asked?
As he took his clothes off
and sat in the pool.
Only if you dont take this
the wrong way she smiled.
He slipped naked
in the blue water.
He looked fit and tanned.
As she slipped out of the water
he looked into her eyes
and said you have
beautiful breast.
Blushing she closed her robe.
Do you get lonely he asked.?
Yes sometimes.
I do too he whispered.
Are you lonely now
Yes she said.
Five years later
They laughed as
thier new baby girl
joined the other children
in the pool.
Swimming for the first time
her new baby laughed.
She looked at him holding
the chid safe,
He was so safe so warm.
So much what she needed.
He reached for her hand.
she felt his solid grip.
I love you my sweetheart
he said.
As he picked up her litte girl
I love you too
daddy she whispered.
As a tear of joy
flowed softly
down my face.*

Rain, small drops ever so quite but ever so loud
Rain, the washing of the earth so she might shine
Rain, ever matching my heart beats
Rain, to comfort and smooth the lost soul to peace
Rain, as a mother cry’s for her chid, never to know she would out live him
Rain, the slow wash of the sprite who seeks forgiveness only to find failures in its wake
Rain, it comes and gose just as I come and go within this life for that I welcome it.

Me and apple cidar vinegar well, let's just say it's a long story when a bout of the flu for literally a fortnight, and Shakespeare's lines came to the 'fore...
(sonnet #MMMMMMMDCCXIII)
Where Shakespeare would drink, sans complaint, t'avail
Lo, "...potions of [yes!] eysel 'gainst--" what thence?
"...My strong infection--" nor think that defense
Too much, I'm churning still from in betrayl
Erm, taking just that--not cuz I regale
The world with naughty plays as he did, whence
His closest friends chid Will, whereat he'd sense
That slight of character and yield--my bail?
Tis as he said, but oh! in truth, not fer
Some metaphor played out t'effect to do
His penance good--"do ye with fortune [to
Be sure it's tongue in cheek] chide--" cuz in poor
'Scuse paying the bills meant theatre as twere.
Yet my case is this fortnight flu I rue.
