There's an old gray
cat that wanders the
neighborhood.
Neutered and wild
green eyes.
He's confident, and
thick,
doesn't trust humans
but loves tuna.
I don't blame him.
I have three female
cats that watch him through
the window, wagging their
slim tails.
He couldn't care less.

I call him Bubba.
His head is the size of
a grapefruit.
Half of one ear is gone.
I put food out for him.
He waits until I go inside
to eat it.
He's tough.
Lived a rough life.
I can tell, I've been down
some of the same
back roads as him,
slept in similar
alleys.

But no one has
taken my *****

yet.

the saddest part of dying
is what you forgot to do
the ideas born in lucid dreams
that vanished in the hue
the mountains never seen
the oceans never crossed
the poems written on scraps of paper
a lover's smile now lost
the tears you held inside
the chances never taken
the landscape of your life
an oasis now forsaken

Poured measured and forged
mistakes debates
fears and many years
Son of a Son to a Son
tempered
to remember
assembled
never
dismembered.
I am the blacksmith
you are the sword
a father not your lord
God plexed tenacity
steel tempered capacity
every boy deserves favour
my time is gone
be bold stay strong
love ad's character to labour.

If we might have a second chance
to live the days once more,
and rectify mistakes we've made
to even up the score.

If we might have a second chance
to use the knowledge gained,
as fine as God ordained.

Though we can't retrace our steps
however stands the score,

tomorrow brings another chance
to try once more.

You no longer believe in the media
because you know that they have all lied to you
and word of mouth cannot be relied upon
so
what to do if you want something new
untainted
vaccinated or unvaccinated?

and this is what I've waited for
since nineteen fifty-six?

thank god it wasn't fifty-four
or
you might have thought
that this was a poem.

Your words are your song
They rest on the moon
To some its done off key but you sing it loud and proud
Some in the car and some in tbe shower
They never lose their power
Look to the sky
Deep in your heart
Examine the stars

Write what I know?  I am pocked with
chunks of broken moments.
Bits fall to the ground, trip me.
The terrain of my youth is a
moonscape.  I know what I know in
the craters of this place.

Born on the darkside and thirsty, I was
cold.  I found the sun later when I
was tumbled out the door of my
Mother’s leaking house.  Her screams
had become tentacles of maniacal
music.  Or do not call it music for
if you heard it you would not dance.

I am old now.  The view from my landing
is filled with sunlight and children,
“There are children in the leaves,
laughing excitedly”.   (Eliot)
I am paused in this imagination on
occasion.

When she is quiet,
I sweep her under the porch
where she lies drunk and unlaughing.
I do not let her out.  Yet she
steers me.  Her corpse loud
in her ***** nightdress.

The terrain of my old age is pitted
with the debris of this haunting.  She
unsings me, makes me lie in
craters from which I climb up
daily only to tumble back down,
to have to begin again
from the bottom each new **** day.

But I sing as I crawl. And
she does not like the sound of that

Mud cakes, sand castles, dress ups and... Make-believe;
Child-like curiosity, awe, wonder and...
Other-world conceive.
Silence, in a busy grownups world gives opportunity for playfulness you can retrieve,
Embrace these moments, seek them out, faith like a mustard seed, oak trees sprout.
Inspired by Psalm 68:3-4 (NLT) and my inner child.
