I worked with Medical Dr’s (Bill collector)
They Call me the money protector
Many doctors are big on cronyism
Also equally unsettling nepotism

These are extreme situations
Degradation of employees separations
It creates division among the ranks
Inevitably staff implode, explodes, tanks

When the doctor’s manager is his wife
Happy wife, happy life, hide the knife
If the office Manager is the Dr’s best friend
Incompetence is something to comprehend

The wives make life a living hell
Dr’s Friend it’s too tricky to tell
Pretty young ignorant girls
Blonde silhouette Substantial curls

Perhaps too happy or had too much to say
rubbed the wife or friend the wrong way
Dr caught in the middle of the rift
Favoritism with a twist cynicisms mist

Money is always the bottom line crime
Hand in the cookie jar overtime
Then an attempt to shift the blame
The stories differ yet remains the same

It’s hard to see what’s in front of our face
Lack of honor,  Truth without a trace
Emerging out the other side
Gossip lies backstabbing pride

Beware avoid this hellish nightmare
Self serving money hungry without a Care
Office politics traps and devilish mishaps
Avoid at all cost else your soul will be lost

When interviewed look for the signs
Ask questions have a backbone spine
You’re looking for the best work fit
Time spent in anguish, agony not worth it

Hindsight word to wise else your demise
Evil eyes no surprise when workplace dies
No amount of money is worth this abyss
Find the right fit workplace,  peace Bliss

Cronyism unfair, favoritism to one)
I worked in toxic situations before. Family friends, taking money, blaming others why jealous jealous pretty staff accusing The girls are turning the doctors head or worse falling into the doctors bed. Walking on eggshells no amount of money it’s worth it. The second Pitfall, If they’re doing a Computer conversion transition will be a cluster mess up, walk away no run away. Not much else to say.

Bonus word
Nepotism unfair favoritism to kinships

Victoria: "My name is Victoria, I'm 59 and from Wirral, North West England. I studied and had a career in social work, predominantly the field of Child Protection. I was married, I'm happily single. I am the eldest of 6 and have 5 children and 5 grandchildren. Home growing up was dysfunctional, I lived through my teens with my nan. I'm passionate about my family, Liverpool fc and my friends. I was addicted ******. My bio says: "Previously life was complex, I helped make it that way, now, I keep it simple and fun." It's true."

Question 2: How long have you been writing poetry, and for how long have you been a member of Hello Poetry?

Victoria: "I joined Hello Poetry in 2011 and that's when I started writing poetry. Mostly, I started with rhyme and then found that prose better fit my parlance."

Question 3: What inspires you? (In other words, how does poetry happen for you).

Victoria: "I'm inspired by my many experiences, with others and in nature. I'm inspired by poetry here, always. Many a poem has stayed with me, long after reading. Writing poetry was suggested to me and my writing developed, it gave me a voice to express, that which more often I had held silent."

Question 4: What does poetry mean to you?

Victoria: "What poetry means to me happens both in the reading and the writing. Poetry for me, gives and changes perspective, I gain new sensibilities and find through the writing, as in life there is, constant readjustment."

Question 5: Who are your favorite poets?

Victoria: "I have lots of favourite poets here, at Hello Poetry. I've made many friends and been fortunate to meet a few. I also enjoy discovering new poets and I am always amazed at the talent out there."

Victoria: "I enjoy fishing: music, photography and feeding my family home grown produce. I've rented an allotment plot for about 12 years, it is where I grow veg, fruit and flowers. My other pastimes are travel, walking, watching the footy and the occasional wild night out with close friends."

Thank you everyone here at HP for taking the time to read this. We hope you enjoyed coming to know Victoria a little bit better. I most certainly did. It is our wish that these spotlights are helping everyone to further discover and appreciate their fellow poets. – Carlo C. Gomez

You are that boy
I showed up to school for
The one who never knew
What he meant
To me
Wanting to be wanted
Just in case
He looked up
But never did
Still...
I always think
About him
His essence
Follows you around
The way I do
Maybe he looked when I didn't see, maybe he was shy as me

Literally, and figuratively that which is
white or glowing.
Brilliant, impressive, happy, lively

I thought Diamond Lake got it’s name from the million sparkles reflected on the water in the breeze of the setting sun and sunrise
But the facts;
John Diamond, 1847, Irish immigrant settler first saw the lake in 1852 while searching for a wagon route over the cascade mountains. He climbed the timberline at commanding Peak and saw 23 miles of skyline and the Lake.
His name was given to
His view point
Dimond Peak (1870 feet)
and Diamond Lake
I’m riding on a carousel
I didn’t buy a ticket for.
Each horse’s harness represents
A non-life-ending malady.

The ride will not come to an end
And spins too fast for jumping off,
But I can carefully switch mounts
To ride on something different.

A gilded stallion paws the air
On the far side of the circle
But I can’t manage to get there-
Something’s always in my way.

I can’t get past the Tiger mount
With it’s angry rasping throat
Or by the zebra with a broken foot
To ride the healthy Courser.

I inch my way by the dappled mare
And dare not tough her bridle.
Spotted I already am
And I want to ride a Mustang.

The ride has gone on far too long
I’ve ridden half the Ponies
I haven’t gained the mount I want.
An aged gelding’s all that’s left.

So I’ll ride it ’til the music ends
And the carousel stops turning
I’ll stumble off and turn to face
The fate that I’ve been learning.
