nivek
a fixed rhythm
dancing feet

The wedding at Cana
thirsty guests

a first recorded
miracle

the wine overflowed
very best last

A Mothers ask-
A Son's reply.
The weeds in our garden
Grew as fast as the pile
Of your unreplied letters
Such a sad race to behold...
REPOST. Written in sep/24.

I'm coming to you,
Oh purlieu blue,
No more walls of Berlin
Shall stand between us,
Your name is a link to happiness,
Just the very thought of you
Reaches beyond the tide
And gives life to children,
Our children.

Somewhere tucked on a bookshelf is a book.
Dogeared, yellow pages with a hand written note.

In a box, lie trinkets — gifts, a pendant of Annie, a book mark.
Hand made cards, smudged with time.

An old doll almost intact,
Broken spectacles, pictures, a watch and postcards.

Some may call it clutter, junk —
And it’ll all go when I go.

But to me, they are the reason behind my smile, an odd tear.

More precious than collectibles or art —
They are pieces of my life,
My world and heart.
My life is not a page
full of pretty poetry
more like fire of rage
Hiroshima imagery
molten hearts boiled tears
flowers were never grown
countless wasted years
lives were never known.
I misled you from the start.
I adored your kind heart
and your weaker knees
spread apart to please.
We made our Love baby
no if and or maybe.
25 years we downsize
sleep alone realize
these rooms don't fit
sleep in beds of regret.
Born into baffling worlds
With double edged swords
Marching from birth to death
Fighting life to the final breath.
I swear broken promises for
entry to your secret garden
I stab your heart once more
and once again beg pardon.
We have had our share
Of refugees fleeing from France
They're great aren't they?
And the Chinese and West Indians
Also great
And more lately - the Africans
And other dialects, so colourful
So intriguing
I want to stop the people
In the street
And ask from whence
Did they originate.
I like to walk around town
And see how long I can go
Before I hear any English.
My friends always encouraged me
To get out more
Experience new cultures
New languages,
But I don't need to now
Abroad came to me.
