drifting alone
through this desert
through these solitary sands
isolated
and deserted
the desert fox
without thought or reason
without cause or purpose
this old heart
these young hands
this love I have to give
but no you to give it to
I am wasted without you
my life is shattered
my dreams are lost
where are you?
if not here?
where are you
when I am without you?
I am withering without you
abandoned here
in this barren wasteland
like a flower in the desert
without hope
without water
without love
won’t you free me from this heat?
this unbearable sunlight
too harsh for my eyes
the truth is just so bright sometimes
I do not wish to see myself
not like this
lost like this
but there is no cure
for all that ails me
only time they say
can heal these wounds
that sorry old adage
so I sit and wait
for something else to happen
and I say
**** me or set me free
twisting these sad young hands
as my old heart melts
in the memory of you

I'm seven days single
Six days sick
Five days dying
Four days childish
Three days gone
Two days confused
One day strong

The first golden sun
Paints the inky canvas sky
In blue so thin and pure
That birds again will fly

I like my poems medium rare
I like my clothes to look like couches
I like my thoughts to be deep, even though they make me scream.
I like my music meaningful
I like my dancing naked
I like my people whether they hate me or love me.
I like my romance movies
I like my speeches to move me
I like my infomercials even though I don't buy anything.
I like my flowers petted
I like my animals kissed
I like my coffee strong even though my thoughts make me crazy.
I like my boys sappy
I like my girls happy
I like myself, because I am the things I like.

Silver fog
the stairs wet
knock knock
would you let
the winter enter
your door
would you let her
swallow the floor
underneath your toes
collapsing into her heart
would you meet her there
waiting in the womb of silence

I still remember the sound of that stillness
Gentle, careful like a lullaby
caressing the dust rising and falling on my skin
The warm sky sang her broken songs
blew her ***** May winds through the village
ever so passionately

The sun shone dark by the dying river
he wept silently his purple evening tears
into the narrow streams underneath
The fragrance of that temple, hard to forget,
Hard to leave behind anything but pondering footsteps..
Yet I walked
into the womb of that scent
forgetting my age old fears
of facing the friction of time,
of dreams, of hope,
of separation.

I collapsed onto the bare earth before I entered
and stared at the air uncouthly
like a barbarian

Moaning, singing, breathing in ecstasy
that old familiar temple fragrance
I'm done looking for love in all the wrong places,
I'm done withdrawing any evil from all the wrong faces.
Done telling myself this time it'll be different.
I no longer want to settle for 40 degree weather,
Telling myself it's warm enough,
Telling myself it's better.

I want to be held... Tightly
I want things to finally... Finally, go rightly.

When I tell myself that I'm done,
When I tell the world I'm no longer looking toward the sun,
I'm told I need to not beat myself up, not to be so down
I'm told I will only go up.

But I hate constant uncertainty,
I hate being mislead,
I hate wondering if it's me
That always makes them leave.
