you
you are a question that i ask to myself everytime i wake up in the morning, or when i'm laying down on my bed at night while looking up to the ceiling, searching and imagining an answer

you are the taste of coffee that i usually drink, bittersweet, as the bitterness makes my stomach hurt yet the taste of itself is addicting, while the sweetness crippling my mind, can't think straight, elusive, indeed

you are there in the air everytime i breathe, the parfume of longing, as i aching trying to exhale the essence of uncertainty of your presence and love
Jared Eli Dec 2023
There are moments when I don't think of you.
When I don't remember.
I am blissfully whisked along in the swirling eddies of forgetful fog.

Always when the fog clears, you are there.
Rather, you are not there and I remember.

I remember the way a silhouette remembers— the outline of the place you once were stands stark against the background that is.
I blend into the background and you pop as a silhouette.
Your figure cuts me, sharper than knives and deeper than the despair I feel at having lost you.
Can you lose something if you know where it is?

I spend so many moments thinking of where we used to be and remembering where we are now.

Having caused much pain
And upset to one I love
I looked long and hard
At me to find the root
Of my failing,

I cut deep and discarded
My ego my pride
And a host of other bad
Habits that accrued
Across the years,

And deep within me
I found an eight year old
Little boy with arms
About his knees,
Head down,

His tear streaked face
Framing a mouth that
Screamed silently in pain,
Heartbreak and
Loneliness,

So I looked within
That visceral version of me,
Cutting deeper than before,
And right at his heart
I found a budded rose,

At first glance
It was perfect,
But closer view showed
Dessication discolour
And paper thin petals,

But even as I watched
Your hand appeared,
Caressed the child
Then watered his
Withered heart,

And in an instant that bud Regained its lustre
And its carmine hue,
The petals spread to glorious flower,
The silent screaming paused

In wonder then delight,
I realise now there
Was no fault in me nor
My heart or view
I just needed watering

With love

From you
Sometimes  being loved is enough to heal even  the deepest wound

Hey you,
You there in that empty shell.
Should we talk?
Should we try to connect ?
Choose
It's up to you.

Hey you,
What's up ?
What's down ?

Hey you,
I'm alone,
But not lonely.

Maybe,
Maybe,
Maybe maybe.

Hey you,
Are you smiling ?
Are you strugling ?

Hey you,
I am who I am,
Only cause
You are who you are.

Hey you,
I love you,
Only cause
I love me.

Hey,
Hey you,
You are what makes me,
Me.

Hey me,
I love me.

Hey you,
It's hard to help me,
It's hard to love me.
But I love me.
Only cause,
I love you.

Hey you,
It's for you.

Hey you,
Cause there is no me
Without you.

Only you,
Only me,

Hey you,
I'll tell you a secret.
I'm afraid.
And it's okay to be afraid.
Only cause
I love you,
Ergo
I love me.

Hey you,
Hey you,
Hey you.

It's okay to be you.
It's okay to be me.
It's okay to be.

Hey you,
It's okay to be
Afraid,
Lost,
Angry.
It's okay to be.

Hey you,
To be or not to be ?

That is not the question !

Hey you,
There is no question !

Hey you,
It's a quest.
Don't be stressed,
Rest
And be blessed.

Hey you,
I am a phoenix.

Hey you,
I'll stand still
Whatever the wind
Whatever the courant
I will run.

Hey you,
Run forrest,
Run.

Hey you,
Run for your life

Hey you,
Run for you
Run for me

Hey you,
I love you
I love me.

Hey you,
Hey love,
Hey life.

I love you,
I love love,
I love life.

Hey you,
Hey me.

Hey,
Hey hey.

Hoy hoy,
It's christmas,
It's my birthday,
I'll live my fantasy.

Hey lord,
On christmas,
It's my birthday.
Hey lord,
On christmas,
Bless me with mercy.

Hey you,
Hey lord,
I love you.

Hey you,
Hey you.
Yes,
You,
I love you.

I love you.

at some point, you just know that
you have got to let them go

of the first time we connected
all those memories we both established
those quirks, my quirks
and remained are flaws, irredeemable flaws

of the places we visited
and of the places that could have been
they now remain as stolen dreams
and retain in them, nightmares born
to its deserving king

of the ideas and lies that
perpetuated my thoughts
to you and for you
like a love that stalks rather
than one you wish I would have

of you
he who once was the sun to me
whose smile was solace like the moon
and though, most probably, it was all built in lies
it was something, truly moving
but remains in the sky, was nothing

that is why these things have to go
the stains that once belonged
and in their places are impressions, gone
what now remains, if they wish to remain,
are dreams that turned into nightmares
ghosts that I long ignored
love once harbored
and... you
Still not feeling well. These thoughts just hit like a truck at the most peaceful moments in life as if life is telling me that I do not deserve this peace.
as you gracefully swing
in the breeze, with a chill
that simply brings us
closer the way we're meant
to be.

The rivers can wait
til you choose the time
and let your hair down
to glimmer and flow in
the sun.

The birds can hush
and sleep soundly
tonight in the warmth of
your song that makes
young ones dream.

The bees have only
the second best sweets
compared to the scent
of your hug on
my arm.

The stars won’t do
on an evening like this
when your eyes hold
the shine of a dozen
lives lived.

My heart can stop
and gasp in awe
as your love tickles
mine like a nuzzle
or sneeze.

And I can rest lightly
in blissful glee with
the thought of your
lips pressed up next to
my cheek.
for my person.

the dictionary may tell
of these words
and their definitions
but those pages will never
portray the true meaning
in the context of you

let me write with ink
staining the pages as I go,
let it resonate across continents,
religions and races,
sparing the blood of innocents

let me plead with ink,
tears flowing as crimson now does on streets
let me show you humanity,
what words I can write, I think of you as I do

for we are in uncertain times indeed,
tatters of humanity, disguised in infants' cries
lost in the hope that tomorrow, the strange sounds will stop
to bring back the sun and watch it shine,
to live in memories of what was once divine

let me give you my love, with ink
gentle hands caressing my pen
oh this world could use a poet;
in fact, it can do with many more-
instead of unsteady hands pulling the trigger
as they go.
In times like this, we can only hope for brighter days.
let our love for one another outshine the hatred.
I pray and hope that people find light in these very trying times.
