There are times
When I wish I could be a child again
Because, as far as adulthood is concerned
There is a lot of pressure and expectations
And many complications as well
Work, relationships, time, money, health
The list is endless
Also, let us not forget
That I am a divorcee
And yearning for a second marriage
Or at least, some kind of romantic relationship
And at the same time
I have to deal with work as well
Anyway, I wish I could be a child again
Because my childhood was awesome
Lots of love
From my family, cousins and relatives
Playing cricket with one of my close cousins
Going on train trips with family
Having fun with schoolmates
Including enacting the part of a Japanese anime princess!!
Playing chess with my maternal grandfather
Watching the golden era of Sachin Tendulkar
Listening to AR Rahman classics
Watching the best movies of Superstar Rajinikanth
Playing tennis with my father
During my second visit to Mumbai
And best of all
Having a life free of tension and worries
Except of course, as far as studies were concerned!!
Well, there were bad times too
For instance, the bullying I faced
Which forced me to leave a renown school
In the span of just one week!!
Nevertheless, on the whole
My childhood is something to be cherished forever
And reflecting back on it as an adult
I am filled with a sense of nostalgia
Being a Potterhead, I wish I could use a Time Turner
And go back in time
In order to revisit all those fond memories in person
Yes, I am not ashamed to say
That I wish I could be a child again
Self-explanatory!!

I didn't know anything
you so suddenly left
never even getting
another chance to speak

I wanted to hear your laugh
but instead I sit and cry
wishing I could see you
waiting for the emptiness
to just go away

Like a leaf blowing
no one hears its cry
it is just a simple
lackluster leaf

Holding hands
now that's a feeling
it is warm and always new
the sensation and memory

It remains the same
yet the feeling changes
the swirling, warm feeling
it never feels out of place

I remember little
but have some vivid
very long lasting memories
you were so nice

Summer breezes and fireflies
whistling and watching
stars appear in our eyes
as we gaze into the campfire

I remember the taste of mint
the laughs and gelatin snacks
movies with each other
and especially, holding hands.
This is for my uncle David. He might've not been with me long, but I remember him fondly and hope he finds his way into the sky. Fly high man, fly far.

Beautiful day...even though it rained. A Robin flew above my head as I toiled in the dirt....stains and tears in my flannel shirt and quite a song he sang - my feathered visitor in the rain. A tale of our life - simple and humble - minimalistic by your design...never turned others away ... I thought the bird a sign. Every single moment of every single day...was better because you were here. You were the rock on which I leaned upon - who sheltered me from pain..I relied upon you ...admired...respected...and loved you with all my heart. So much like you - as I look at my ***** hands making clean money...I hope you're proud of me. Thank you for the reminder my sweet bird ...I hope to fly away with you one day...just not yet. Finishing my work - the bird finally found his way out - I knew exactly what he was talking about.      Cherie Nolan - 2016 * All Rights reserved
