Feel it all out now
Smooth it through your fingers like
An unwelcome business card
feel it now before you lose it
Before it gets lost
In your purse
In the gutter
In your mind
Universe be cruel
Universe be
sour
Linger longer and i’ll be
Yours
The moon smirks
Hides her face
She knew
Knew it was coming
Diction be colorful
Diction be
prim
Words fall through the floor
Splash like blood
made of ink
Can you feel it?
It rages across the boulevard and
Ocean
Strewn across dreams
Tattered and ******
Aches like an open wound
What does it feel like again?
I’ll drive back home to
Retrieve my body
from the bay
Soul purged, pitch black
You’ll drive back home to
Retrieve your heart
Come back home
to your fire
We’ll see each other on the other side and we’ll
Feel it all out then
Smooth it through our fingers like
Glass
Don’t linger long

girl who cried wolf
Kalliope Nov 2019
there was a wolf
I tell you
sharp teeth, a stench
I tried to run I tell you
wouldn’t listen
Little girl hearts
Beat and behave like
A sparrow
leery fingers touch
Lingering wounds
don’t touch
He wouldn’t listen

modern mythology
Kalliope Nov 2019
I see you within the lavender
dreams the
Stream of consciousness
The water is murky
murky feelings, murky
thoughts brings something wicked this way
something crooked comes my way
and twists around every fiber
heartstring, molecule
cream curdles and a thousand
eyes become watered
where are you she cries and cries
far and away I know, he knows
far and away I sometimes see
your face onto the frame of a stranger
stop longing, stop aching
he doesn’t care, he is hiding
modern mythology comes into the clear
crisp, cruel—
im not devout
you are within everything and nothing
the nothing of a pupil, within the everything of the ocean
you elude me and arise as the
moon falls and then
strokes the sea
depravity  leads to
delusion
delusion divine
delusion sweet and sickly as
honey
forever aching, forever longing
through hiding and through health
I think I’m devout

feast your eyes onto this
soak it in
milk, blood, cherubim, and all
feast your eyes on this atrocity;
atrocity, tragedy, calamity
you can't help but look anyhow

tosses me into his bed
tosses me into his garden along with the tulips and chicken bones
waits for me to sprout next spring
i wonder how she'll be-
how she'll bloom
she'll spit ichor and honey through her teeth
annual or perennial
we'll never know

fret not, fret not-
breathe in the summer night
throw yourself down into the garden
bare your neck to the rose bush and forget it all
forget the cherubim
forget the milk
save the blood
save her

— The End —
