I am constantly falling in love with strangers.
With words written in notebooks stashed away and forgotten about.
With the way the light hits the trees in the morning as the sun rises, the way the sky is light pink and orange before blue.
I fall in love with curves of lips as boys talk to girls on the streets.
With the way people walk, as if gliding over linoleum in the oddly bright supermarket.
With hands that gesticulate as tongues, mouths, and brains tell stories too wildly unimaginable for the layfolk.
But I will not let myself fall in love with you.

I'm so sorry for that.

I put my trembling

hand in hers

when I was four

and twenty years

now twenty more

are come and gone

and yet my trembling

carries on

for different reasons

though I don't

remember when

those reasons changed

and all I have

is foolish hope

that one day they may

change again ....

I'd give you a three leaf clover
Yes, that's three not four
Each leaf has meaning
The first is faith
The second is hope
The third is love
And the fourth is luck

But if I have you
I don't need luck
I only need three
I only need love

I'd give you a three leaf clover
Yes that's three
Not four
If I ever meet someone to love

If I had to guess on what I've seen
I'm not too sure that she likes me
I've played the game, I know it well
But with this girl it's hard to tell

If I could talk to just anyone
Then talking to him would be fun
He seems funny, he seems so nice
I only need to break the ice

I'm afraid of what she might say
If I give too much of myself away
If she thinks me another man
Will she like me for who I am

When conversing, he seems so closed
Almost as if he is trying to pose
Wondering what he is hiding
I conclude that it's dividing

With her style and class she is far above me
Afraid to ask if she could ever love me
A girl like her, a boy like me
I have my wants, she is my need*

With his depth and thought he's far away from me
Afraid to wonder if he could know me
A mind like his, a fool like me
My longing for him is decreed

I hope I die in my sleep
So it'll be just like a dream
Where I can go on floating
For all eternity
That would be fine by me
I hope I die in my sleep

I hope I die in my bed
The very place I lay my head
Not really knowing
When the reaper is met
And with that being said
I hope I die in my bed

I hope I die in the Spring
So when they go to bury me
I will lay there hoping
I'll hear the birds as they sing
That should go without saying
I hope I die in the Spring

I hope I die in midstream
Before old age catches me
Because where I am going
I may need all my strength
Where ever that may be
I hope I die in midstream

irinia
Things distance themselves from one another
in a desperate halo
your loneliness is an echo,
rolled between my ribs.

The table is going round
The walls are bleeding
blood is pouring from the chair
where I sit back;
piles of clothes
like some famished birds
are collapsing from
a perpetually cold sky.

Puts his pen to paper
For one last goodbye
Will try his best to say it all
In this his final write

He'll address it to his loved ones
And those that know him well
In hopes they'll take it all with ease
Though there's no way to really tell

He's written about the ups and downs
The ins and outs of life
So what is written on this lonely page
Should come as no surprise

He's always felt so out of place
Even in this poets world
At one time was his saving grace
That no writings now can cure

So he puts his pen to paper
His beginning and his end
Never doing him any favors
Both as enemy and friend

All he can think to write
Is I've simply had enough
As his very last line for the very last time
Is written out in poets blood

This is the promise that I promise you
To be here forever faithful, tried, and true
To hold you tight in all that we go through
This is the promise that I make to you

This is the promise before God and man
To give you all my all in all I am
Leaving you no doubt that I can
Keep this promise before God and man

This is the promise I will only make
Once in a lifetime for loves own sake
A promise I promise to never break
This one promise I'll take to the grave

This is the promise that I won't let go
No matter what curves life at us may throw
I thought that you might want to know
Of this promise I'll forever hold

This is the promise when time draws nigh
I will have your frail hand in mine
As we fall asleep into the other side
This is the promise that never says goodbye
You only need your heart broken once
To be able to create a lifetime of poetry

Welcome to Society
It's full to brim
With blooming
Actors
And actresses

They practice each day
Their smiles and laughs
Till they're simply perfection
And you'll never know the difference
Between what's real
And what's not

These people
They act out their lives
With well practiced actions
And say it's all fine and dandy

When really,
*It's not
