  Dec 2024 heidi
Jonathan Moya
Its leaves fold,curl in
Their grip yields to the cold wind
The elm knows their loss
heidi Nov 2024
Deadened leaves falling
Bare branches shake in the wind
Shedding summer’s coat
heidi Nov 2024
The desert sky is vast
A heavy blue spanning far
Rippling with the sun’s heat

Cacti line the horizon
Like an uneven barbwire fence
As the sky turns to orange

Like a flame licking the world
Dry and thirsty for a drop of water
The sun sinks into the Earth
heidi Nov 2024
The leaves have yellowed,
marking the end of the year.
They fall from their branches.
heidi Nov 2024
A frog makes his home
in the hollow of a tree
where he sings all night
heidi Nov 2024
leaves falling from their branches
soaring through the air
before painting the ground orange
heidi Sep 2024
there’s a melancholy tune
from the shallow end
pulls me in, broken-hearted
