dating a writer
is like guessing the weather.
you think you know what you'll get,
but you never do.

you never know
because

she'll create a hero
from your weaknesses

and she'll write a great character,
from every last flaw.

she'll create a thousand plots
from your worst nightmares.

she'll take every last thing you hate
and create something you'll love.

she'll turn your anger
into confessions of adoration,

and she'll make you,
everything you're not.

but worst of all,
she'll leave you wondering-
is it you she's in love with,
or things she's created from you?

but here's the beauty of it:

if you date a writer,
you'll never die.

as I make my way up the stairs
he plants his body in front of me
as a greeting
wanting to wrap arms around me
to see me safely home
to greet me from my roam
as I divest the armament
of a blistering painful day
his touch soothes the fire
whispering enlightenment
hands softly stroking skin
bleeding away the ire
Greeted as a conquering Queen
treated with gentle words
soothed with a scorching touch
bathed in lulling herbs
of richly scented water
drawn in a bath so warm
floating under heavenly scents
and basking, undisturbed
in a world of total chaos
reminiscent of wars we fought
and lost
Every day is a do over
a clean slate
no ones the boss
I'm just the lucky one
returning home
after braving a world gone mad
Just one little lady
loved by her Man
enough to appreciate her experiences
to greet her every day
at the door
to make her glad
she's coming home

Your beautiful soul deserves
so much more
than my shadows

another 4:12 goes by

my hand still stings
from the night I used it to punch through her wall
when I walked on the frostbitten sidewalk
and it broke my fall
when i got sick of hearing her talk and typed
"don't call me anymore"

those days weren't too long ago, really

i got my solace in the end that their winter's grasp dripped away from my body when your spring sun showed up
and gave way as your burning summer wildfire lit my coal'd heart

Things have been
changing, everyday, so its
no wonder, we didn't stay the same,
it's been years since we've been close, and
every time I just happen to run into you, you're
not the same person, who was that person then, you
have built bridges, that you have seem to cross, and
I just seem, to jump off, but the fact of the matter
is, you and I, have changed so much,
we're not the same anymore,
We have tried to
grow up,*
like a child,
stealing her
mother's red lipstick,
we are painted red, but
your red, is a red of beauty
and love, and mine is of blood,
lust and honest disgust, we
have chosen different paths,
and we walk circles
*in the woods,
trying to get to
the center of infinity as
if we can meet again, in the center
paths limbo of the happy end you walk & sad
one I walk, So when we meet in the center, and we
never cross paths, and never talk long enough to hear
each other's life stories, we just end up walking in
that never ending circle, and as we circle; life
hits us with things, some good; some
bad, but for 3.14% of the time
it's as simple as pi to
get through it.
Just a poem about change and how we don't see it on us but on others.
