The Jellyfish in the Sky
Sky Sep 2018
A harbinger of life and death
He walks the sky
Carried by her breath

From above his many arms reach the earth
They beat rocks down
Carve waterways
And raise earthly pillars

From the sun he brings color
Captured in his work
Down, Down in the leaves
His gift to her

When her lungs are deep and shouts coarse
His shadow is dark
The land lost in premature night
Interrupted by angry light

On these dull nights with sullen color
Life is ruptured
And the blood of torched nature
Swallows her

When her voice is gentle and breath still
His works are thoughtful and cautious
Gifts numerous and precious
And she’s alive

Lost words capture the light
Of the ancient giant
Making the beautiful
Visible to the earthly soul

His touch like the heart
Strong and warped by passion
Imperfect and earnest
And dictated by cyclic motion

Wild and Eternal
The Heart of Nature

Summer Cynic
Sky Jun 2019
Get up at 6 am
Out at the park
Joggers and Dog walkers
Watch them run in circles

Head's bob to something motivational
I bet you find it relatable
Maybe inspirational?
Someday you'll see its all just sensational

I can't see a thing but the turbulence in the air
And some awful glare
Up behind that cloud up there
I just don't get why all you people like to stare

Sit alone and ponder, that fake lover
You thought you loved her?
Try and capture that in that your social blunder
As you burn up in the summer

Look around at this sick little plot of nature
Think your some kind of savior?
Ignorant of that melting glacier?
Huh, guess you wouldn't know much about being a maker

Look I know its tough
But your heart is puffed up in self righteous fluff
Its the weight on the other end of your handcuff
When are you gonna see that its enough?

Why don't you put those clock arms back
Back to when it was all pitch black
But now that I'm awake I finally see
Just how pointless it all could be.

But you know just as well as I
That there is one truth you can't deny
That time is on my side
Soon your heart will be as weathered as mine

The Labyrinth of Lights
Sky Jan 2019
I spent many days and many nights
Lost, in a labyrinth of lights
A dance in the eternal twilight
Never saw something so bright

A flash, before the night
Seeded with desire
And wrought with color and fire

In it countless sweet simple things
So obvious and plainly seen
When I was eighteen

Something faint in the sky
Catches the inquisitive eye
Watching it struggle up there so high
Reminds me to say goodbye

Now I've spent many days and many nights
Lost, somewhere I'm not yet aware
Still, a flower here or there
An answer to my empty prayer

Even after all this time,
I find those familiar lights
Haunting me in the nights
And torturing me with forgotten delights

Just for a moment
I see them in puddles of water
A flash in the reflection
Or is it just my shoddy recollection?
Hidden under all that lukewarm affection?

Entombed a part of me seems to be
In the depths of the colorful tones
Buried under far too many stones
And something else's bones

Spent so much time looking into those lights
They've been burnt into my eyes
Got me addicted to those old highs
The ones full of lies

Even still after all this time,
I find myself wanting to be,
Lost Again,
In a labyrinth of lights

There is a great river
Sky Oct 2018
There is a great river
Where it begins and where it goes
Nobody Knows

Everyone floats down it, each steadfast in a little handmade boat
At first it handles roughly, the task is arduous and fickle
And It can be demanding just to stay afloat
A battle against every ripple

The hull heaves as the water pulls to and fro
And Cracks in the hull give way to the flow
Water down below,
Simply demands to be let go

Sometimes vast boulders of earth and rock fall
Down Down into the water they go
Shaping the current, and curbing its flow
Sometimes imperceptibly so

On foggy days the water is strange and unpredictable
The river is hidden
Stones and Divisions emerge
And vanish as visions and realities diverge

Now I’m pulled along
Some days I wish the water was faster
Others slower

I’ll fashion a sail to catch
That gentle wind who holds the grass
Guides the little things
And sways the giants

Points of light dance in the sky,
Playthings in the hues of night
Shine against the fading of the light

Its then in that quiet hour
When the heart turns sour
And the hungry devour
Those who are lost with nothing left to admire

It’s there in those flicks of yellow and the rare green flash
There in the bridge of future and past
I’ve left my heart
I’ll return to it someday

For now I’ll keep my head locked up above
As I’m pulled along
Ever steadfast
Towards that beautiful destination

Nostalgic Melancholy
Sky Jun 2019
Fuzzy occultations hide ancient light
Pinpricks in the sky
On a warm dreary night

Orange light floods empty streets
Broken by shadows
With steady heartbeats

Music drowned out by the rush of air
"Dont push it now"
With this wind in my hair

Beneath me an old friend
Rough and Reactive
With wounds I could never mend

Steady now, as I let myself down
Plastic and rubber melt
As my foot comes down

Even for all that thrill
"Why do I always go out here?"
After a moment all is still

A shadow stumbles idly by
"Its beautiful out here, even if im the only one"
As I look up towards the sky

Cathartic and Beautiful
"Where to go now? Should I really stay out?"
And strangely unusual

Look up and down, and all around
"How come its gotta be so clear?"
I'm not sure I understand what I've found

Foot forward and back
"No no, dont think too much"
I'm on my way back

Cold blue doors slam shut
"I've got this old feeling in my gut"
I just don't know what
