Moonlight - blackout poem
Sofia Dec 2019
The light of the setting moon
had to sleep
No answer

Why'd you run off?
No reason

Just interested to get away
because the night's gone all day
wondering what life is

I do not feel the necessity
This is actually a blackout poem from To **** a Mockingbird, page 157 (at least in my version).

It really didn't matter
Sofia Dec 2019
It was like you thought
I wanted to be lifted up

So, even though you knew you couldn't,
you picked me up

We walked together for a while
and it was nicer than I'd thought

But you stumbled
and we fell

It was very sad
for I never expected you to lift me

I just wanted to be together,
on ground or in the sky

It really didn't matter

You were my light,
but you burned out
You fell, and I
fell down with you

I thought
we were gonna be the best
In my dreams
we were gonna go away
Travel abroad
and never come back
At least not as the same people

Now you simply stop my heart
Instead of making it beat,
like you used to

I wonder if you know
any of this
I hope not,
but if you did
I guess you'd write songs about it

If you ever did,
would you let me
hear them?
Because I would love that
like I love you
