Disheveled grim face
Reflecting disgust within
Unkempt ugly soul
Petal by petal
her beauty unfolded,
her soul was revealed.

We've always been the ones to say
"No, you love me more!"
But it's really you
You love me more
though you didn't know how before
Remember when I told you I wanted to tell you I loved you? Our first evening, when I told you I liked you 10 times? Such a sweet, silly evening. You were kinda hesitant, I wasn't. I had told you I thought you liked me more, then you said "Nah!".
Then when we said it another time or two, weeks later, I was confused. I wondered maybe we're just responding to the love we think each other has.
But no, I love you, and you love me more.
Some days perhaps I'll love you more than you love me, but maybe mostly not. You love me a lot.
When I awake
Early on a winter’s morning
I creep about my house
Straining to soften the creak of the floorboards
Determined not to wake the others

My dazed heads snuffles
As I potter from toilet to bathroom
Bathroom to kitchen

And then
I am taken by surprise
As I catch a glimpse
Of pink, purple, orange, blue and grey,
The golden outline of the new sun's edge
Through my window

And I stand there
Still
In my dressing gown and slippers
A silent witness
Heart swelling with joy
At this precious moment
When I am alone
With this unique sunrise

I, alone
Claim this beauty
As my own

This is my time
My precious alone time
When I am most me

Wondering like 'the mole'
At the impossible beauty of it all
16th October 2016
My poetry and I fight
with guns and knives
looking for something that just feels right
standing somewhere close
are the things we cannot see
for the light and bright we fight for
blinds us to friends and makes of us
enemies again
so we fight in fright
of a word made from violence
inside this head.
Fire to ashes
Mountains to dust
Water to ice
Metal to rust

Like to lust
Lust to love
Love to hate
Hate to love

Breath to life
Life to death
Ashes to ashes
Dust to dust
