Broken

To be human
is to be broken.
Shattered by life,
misunderstood.

We all have hopes
we don't dare name.
We all have dreams
we don't dare share.

Ninety-nine percent
we don't understand
our own selves.
And so often
we hide behind shells.

To be human
is to be broken.
So stand up tall
broken and all.

Be broken.
Accept it.
And accept others,
beautifully broken,
just as you.

Every human is broken, but you choose whether to live boldly broken or timidly broken.

We were born in different shapes, colors, and size
Not a single embryo was able to decide their DNA or blood type
But that shouldn't make us less humans than the others
It's the diversity that makes us exquisite and beautiful

Break down the stereotype that beauty is fair skin,
that beauty is a skinny and blonde-haired lady
that beauty is wearing clothes with branded labels
that beauty is applying tons of foundation and mascara

Who are we to determine the standard of beauty, anyway?
While each of us is God's creativity,
authentically made by His hands

Who are we to judge God's taste in art, anyway?
While each of us is uniquely magnificent,
as His creations are never less thanĀ a masterpiece

Keep in mind that the real beauty lies within ourselves,
beneath our skin, between our thoughts, and inside our soul
Embrace your inner beauty
the pull of the
moon

the light of the
sun

the beat of a
heart

the becoming of
one

I trace the lines on
your back

as if they are a
map

to lead me to a
hidden land

the reach of an
arm away

how long are you going
to stay with me?

forever.

forever.

forever.

Flowers fade
infatuation dies.
When tribulations come,
will you stand by my side?
