We have mined our mountains,
we have fished our seas,
we have felled our forests,
we have gathered our grains,
but we have not yet embraced
the infinite energy of our souls,
which is love.

Sometimes, I hear a song
through someone
else’s headphones,
 too quiet to name
 but loud enough to feel.

I never ask what it is.
Letting it stay anonymous
 feels more honest.
It’s not mine.
I was just near it.

A violin behind a closed door
in an apartment I’ll never enter.
Footsteps on an old wooden floor above me
like a rhythm nobody meant to write.
A man humming in the metro
  not to perform,
  but because he’s alone
and forgot the world has ears.

There are moments I’ve been completely undone
by a melody I never fully heard.

Half of it lost to the train.
Half of it blurred by walls.
But something in me
  was tuned
    just right
      to catch what escaped.

We think music is what’s played.
But maybe it’s also what passes through
      when we weren’t looking.
When we didn’t try to hold it.
      Or name it.
      Or own it.
Today I got a hug, out of the blue

and it even came with an "I love you''

Such a simple kind gesture

  It brought me such pleasure

It picked me up when I felt down

  turned my day totally around

Just when I thought no one cared

someone loved me, someone shared

“Are you okay?”

Sweetheart, I write poetry
And some kindhearted people said I write it well

That can only mean one thing
My mind is an unescapable hell

“Yeah, just tired”

Meeting you
Was like listening
To my favorite song
For the very first time
And already knowing
All the words

Already knowing
It’d be my favorite.
Reminiscent on what was once mine

Wake up
Go to work
Lay in bed alone
Feeling the crushing weight
Of loneliness
And all my past mistakes.

mads
Today has a weird air about it,
It’s sunny and bright and still
But it feels like mourning.

Is this preemptive?
Premonition?
Or a soft surrender to all my trauma.
A delicate laying down of flowers,
Soft cloths,
A blanket of tears
For versions of me that never survived
Or who were taken by the darknesses.

At a desk, coffee sachets rest.
Long-life milk harbours
white dreams of expiry.
Shuffling in his forgetful nest
a grey man blinks
at the intruding light.

Americo, do you remember
your antique power,
that opened like a rose
on the walls of Hiroshima?

She was the villain.
She could feel it
In her heart—
Yet there was nothing,
Not a “sorry”
That could salvage
What she had done.
We are all heroes
And villains in
One and another’s
Lives—
but she still wished
she could be
     only the light
I never meant to be the villain in your story.
If you want to
Feel pain

Fall in love

If you want to
Feel happy

Fall in love

With whom
That only matters
