Dear Distance,

*******.
I'm writing this to you
at 4:30 in the morning
and because of you,
I'm am currently
115 ******* miles away
from the person
I lie awake missing
every ******* night.
Because of you,
when I get lonely
and a hug is all I need
I'm stuck cuddling
a ******* pillow.

But also, thank you.
For teaching me
how to be patient
and showing me that
I can, in fact,
function alone.
Thank you for
making me grateful
and appreciative,
for taking away
what I have
to show me how much
I really do care.
Because of you,
It means much more
whenever I say
"I miss you."

Without wax,
Someone Whose Heart Aches

*P.S. *******.
Third in my Open Letter Series. Let me know what you think!

I'm not as religious
as my mom thinks I am.
She teaches other kids
about our shared faith
every Sunday, with me in tow.
It's not that I don't believe
in the gods that she does.
God is supposed to
guide you and inspire you,
and teach, protect, and love you.
So I implore you:
find God in the halls of an art gallery
or in the crashing waves at the beach.
Find God at the bottom of a bottle
or on the top of a skyscraper,
the middle of a forest,
in the words of scholars
or in the cells of life itself.
Call it what you want,
but find God
in everyone
and everything.
I’ve been drowning in the ocean of your eyes
It’s turning into the only thing I know
And it may be the thing that breaks me
But I can’t forget it’s the thing that waked me

Treading water when I long to fly
The way you smile when I want to cry
This just might be the roses thorn
I’m torn

We started talking
It was no big deal
It probably wouldn't last
But then I began to feel
This warmth inside my chest
And cheek to cheek grins
I couldn't wait to discover the rest
And continue these pleasurable sins
It was all wrong
and definitely risky
But I was strong
And a little frisky
I would give us a chance
And see where it went
You had me in a trance
And I couldn't relent
This is going really well
and I'm hoping for the best
You have me in your spell
It's so much better than I would've guessed.
An optimistic poem affection poem.

i know
a soul
that has a poem
writing inside her.

among other things,
it has written me down, there,
on the backside of her third rib.

i, consumed
by a certain peculiar meanderlust,
curl up
along its
metamorphic edge:
riding those finishing strokes
that forever code your own typeface as such.

I know one fine day
I would need to wake up
And let all this go.

But for now,
And these few months,
Maybe these few years...

Let me preserve these feelings,
the hurt
the sorrow.

The good,
The warmth,
The love ( if I may call it. )

In case,
Just in case
You turn back.
You told me to hold your heart,
So I took it and let it lull me to sleep.
I felt the beat
And knew it was for me
And it made me
Happy.

You told me to hold your heart,
So I took it and wore it on my sleeve.
I displayed it
For the world to see
And it made me
Happy.

You told me to hold your heart,
But what you didn't know is I asked so, too.
You didn't take it
You didn't display it
And I thought I was
Happy

I found my heart,
So I took it and put it back together.
But it wasn't the same.
It was never the same.
And I knew I wasn't
Happy

But still I held my heart,
And I still wore it on my sleeve.
Beaten and broken
For the world to see
And I have found how to be
Happy.
