preaching poetic beauty
as i have once done

From the oven of
Lips and tongue;
Dripping well-dressed
In savory sauce,
To stir me to feast on.

you became a home when i couldnt find one.
you became a friend when i had none.
you became a parent when mine left.
you became a mentor when i had no one to guide me.

They said,
"The most beautiful art is
looking into someone's eyes
when they talk about the
things they love."
And I said,
"Or looking at someone you love.
Or maybe, just maybe,
by looking at the mirror
is the most beautiful art
anyone should appreciate."

Love...
Something to torture you
Bringing you to your knees
The pain is addicting

Uneasy in her silence
Vulnerable and bare
His words cut so deep
She struggled not to care

Pensive for a moment  
She felt inadequate, yet free
Taking time to reflect  
On the woman, she’d come to be

The strength she'd sought so desperately
Showed up a little too late
Devoid of any resolve
Perhaps she'd met her fate
