trees are changing their robes;
on misty mornings
I am sitting on my porch.
a book
I've found in a vintage bookstore
at the corner of my street
is lying in my lap

drinking a tea
wrapped into my favorite blanket
and watching my neighbors
carving their pumpkins

smelling the scent
of firewood
while also listening to
Frank Sinatra

autumn, oh autumn
where have you been?
The streets covered with snow and sleds,
children no longer lying in cozy beds;
Sleep is a waste when the outdoors calls,
this new season brings merriment to all !

Spinning like tops while skating on ponds,
seeing ourselves mirrored in icy lawns;
Snow-forts built with love and care,
frost nips away in the clean crisp air.

Building a snowman up on the hill,
down feathers fight off the icy chill;
Sharing with friends many Christmas treats,
slipping and sliding to a jolly old beat !

Songs on high from the chirping birds,
cardinals calling out their sweetened words;
As an evergreen sits so majestic and tall,
a welcome wonderland of joy for one and all !
Post-Christmas memories of childhood fun !

my heart wavers
when I look at you

It was meant to be my
masterpiece, the ultimate
piece of poetic seduction
for a woman I have loved
since I was 16, 50 years
ago. Blue ink, a Waterman
Velum and right on time to
catch the last post, but my
pen went dry just as I was
about to say, I

New Angel

                      Someone you love
                   Has just passed away
                            And for you
                      It’s a very sad day

                    As your heart breaks
                        You feel the pain
                     The hurt is constant
                    Your tears fall like rain

                          Now you wonder
                      Will the hurt ever end
                          You feel the void
                        The loss of a friend

                        They say that in time
                          Your heart will heal
                           But they can’t feel
                               What you feel

                     God may have taken them
            But he’s covered you from every angle
                      Because he just gave you
                                  A new angel

Sea's End
When two poets love,
Words start to hang in the air
And lose their meaning.
Another haiku? Wow! I'm only so good with words until I actually need to use them. Just ask my girl. (Spoiler alert: I'm really bad at articulating my thoughts in the heat of the moment. That's why I'm here.)
