Wilfred
we stare at ourselves,
lifelessly staring at our mirrors,
staring at our fears.
our escape are the reflected eyes.
we hide and what seeks us
is not our fears,
but us.
Somewhere the sun is setting
In your tired eyes

Somewhere a cool breeze carries
Songs of changing times

Somewhere you're getting by,
Flushed with words of wine,

Somewhere a fool laments
That he never called you "mine"

Quietly my hand

caresses the fire with joy;

I watch my hand burn.

My body drowns in

the ocean's gentle feathers;

emerged in slumber.

My hand reaches for

the stars, trying to grasp the

untouchable air.

Energy flows through

your presence, travelling from

your very own core.
fire
water
air
earth

Happiness can be found not only in the obvious, light flooded areas.
I smile.
A laugh.
A night sky filled with stars.
A kiss, a hug.
Dying of laughter on the floor.
Sitting back on the lake and realizing you have a good moment and asking “what is life but this moment with infinite variation?”

But happiness can also be found in pain. In the dark places that haven’t been lit and where no friend will follow.
You cry on the bathroom floor,
filling the toilet with countless tissues
until you starting risking overflowing if you ever try to flush.
But then next morning you have a song you can sing for years to come;
a poem you will read to your grandchildren and watch the smile spread wide as they think “wow, he was just as young as us once”;
a new, redefined relationship.
All these things are happiness.

The oak down by the river
Drinks cool water from the Earth
It’s done so since forever
When it’s acorn gave it birth
It’s stood there through the centuries
Adding ring by ring each year
But if it had the eyes to cry
I know it would shed tear
For this used to be a forest
It’s friends and piers stood tall
But axes and the wind of change
Made his family fall
But I’m not by standing
I will not let this tree
Stand so proud and lonely
It can rely on me
And so with ***** and saplings
I place new friends near by
So this ancient wonder
Can breath contented sigh
