Lily was a pretty girl
With eyes a shining blue
And copper hair, much like the sun,
With an infectious smile, too

Top of her class in college
Men would stare as she walked by
And when her friends laughed at her jokes
No one could hear her sigh

Imitation was her flattery
Everyone knew her name
And of course it was no party
Unless beloved Lily came

Her family was perfect
Fully virtuous through and through
Making generous donations
To match each of Lily's red-backed shoes

So each day she returned from school,
To her mansion of a home,
Ignored the pestering phone calls
And sat quietly, all alone

Til one day Lily returned
Placing a note upon the shelf
Quietly grabbed her father's gun
And loudly killed herself

Oh Lily
She's a pretty girl with a pretty name
Oh Lily
To bad she's insane
Oh Lily
She's holding a knife to the world
Oh Lily
Since when did your mind become so unfurled
Oh Lily
She's a different person now
Oh Lily
How?
Feeling a degression of my person

Whispers
Licking your ear
Like flames.

Breathing heavy.
Tickling
The back of your neck.

Close your eyes.
Hold your breath.
Tremble.

Anxiety, like fire,
Needs fuel,
We feed it with fear,
If only,
we can let it burn out.

I love you so much.
You are not alone anymore.
Let me help you fight your demons
My demon, what happened to you.
You used to be oh so sweet.
Kiss me good night to sleep.
Tell me life is grand and help me understand.
Why life is worth living for.
Why smiling is important.
Why I am so great.
Now all I do is wait.
For your call of insecurities.
For you to tell me you're all right.
For you to come back home.
Please tell me, what happened to you.
My angel.
The demon controls me in every possible way.
Claws scorching and scratching my wrist as he tightens his grip on me.
When I fight, his voice sweet as nectar drowns out the muffled begging
Of my last innocent cell trying to break free.

But this demon is a clever one, he outwits me once again.
He leads me down deeper into his darkness, a tender hold on my hand,
Whispering comfort, and promises of ecstasy in the world below.
My blood boils in a fiery desire that not even a God could withstand.

My demon always gets what he wants. And I’ll forever listen.
As we dance in the invisible light I am comfortable in his arms.
The reality of the darkness engulfs me as he serenades me into unconsciousness.
My body once again claimed victim to my addiction’s evil charm.
A fight with my biggest demon,
Addiction,
Its consumes me, mind, body,
And soul,
A fight within my self,
That only seems to subsume with the demon its self,
Only to cause doom,
Pain,
And shame,

From outer to inner,
And flesh to bone,
It takes over me,
And swallows me whole,

A battle to fight,
For the rest of my life.
A poem written for my sister, And her battle she goes through every day.
I have a demon
He follows me everywhere
I have a demon
He consumes me with emptiness and he doesn't even care
I have a demon
Do you know what the worst part is?
My demon loved me, not so very long ago
and I think I still love him
