The song goes on...
like a torch
you must pass it along
to the others you meet
on this journey/on the street
so they don't feel alone
to help them know they're needed
that they're strong..
everyone belongs
so learn to hum this song...
to the sounds all around
you'll hear it in the whistle of a train
in the drip of the rain...
to the drums on the street
in the all souls you'll ever meet..
it's found in the rhythm of their heartbeat
go on n' sing it now/pass it along
it's just a song ...
but it will help others to become strong.

This was originally "Rock My Soul". I had tap a dancing chorus, (clickity-clack/two beats up/one beat down), and "all kinds" of things going on. **Note to self: Don't put your iPod on "shuffle". ; ) I decided to just cut and paste part of the poem.

This is a work in progress...for sure! : )

She slid the memory of his hatred
into an imaginary place in the shape of a heart
so it could be loved
softly, gently..
she rocked it to sleep
singing
a sweet lullaby
whispering
upon sunrise
"You are cherished"
each afternoon
"You are safe"
upon the stars
"You are special"
her name was, Patience
she knew
there had been a little boy once
deep inside
and, he had suffered.

It's none of my business what you think of me
it's clear you believe that you're too superior
to ever see
to see the me that's inside you
to believe in the goodness inside me
and, everything that is true
instead you want to tear my spirit down
you enjoy twisting my words around
I can't change you
only me
I will be a peaceful warrior
you will see
I will grow from this experience
and, be the best person
that I can be
but there's something you don't understand
you've lost my respect as a human, and a man
and, I will not give myself away
I am responsible for my own happiness today
if that means removing you from my life
well, baby
I'm removing your back-stabbing knife.

Peaceful warriors know all too well
when it’s time to walk away
from all the hatred n’ hell
they’ve seen it before
Yeah- a long time ago…
or, it happened today—
on the news in some way…

It’s as simple as this…to know peace
to know bliss..
You don’t need to be right—
to let go of a fight….

If Martin Luther were alive today…
Marching on Washington
with millions behind—
his words would ring true  ~ yes,  they’d be  kind…
he’d say peace is the way—
for the world - for today…
Yeah, that’s what he’d say…
peace is the way….
for the world - for today.

You don’t have to be right…
to walk away from a fight—

from all the hatred n’ hell
they’ve seen it before
Yeah- a long time ago…
or, it happened today—
on the news in some way…
we’ve seen it again, and again
it’s a repeat of days
in countries a blaze ..
n' it never ends with the hatred it sends
for those dangerous souls with their need to control
to spread their hatred again, and again—-

It’s as simple as this…to know peace
n’  bliss..
You don’t need to be right—
to let go of a fight….
You just need to know
that we all belong
that we can all learn to share ~ n'  all learn to care
there's enough for all of us here
No,
We don't need anymore tears--

that peace is the way
and, it can all begin today
if we let go of the need to be right—-
yeah, yeah—-then
we don’t have to fight—

You're like a phantom lover, yeah, like some kind of ghost
I reach for you but there's nothing there
making me wonder if you ever really loved me
yeah, yeah, if you even cared
as I have undressed my soul in front of you
and, I have laid it bare
leaving me with sweet sadness when you're not there
Yeah, yeah --
You're like the flicker in a candle dancing in the night
you're gone as soon as my bedroom window shows some light
there must be something about me
that brings out your greatest fears
It must be like this/something I've known since our first kiss --
You've wrapped your heart up in stone --
your heart has been frozen in ice for so long
Yeah, you've kept it safe/Yeah, but it's kept you all alone --

You don't know what to do with a girl like me
I keep it real/I speak the truth
I'm not here to tell you how to be
but I need more than this you see..

I hope someday you can set your heart free
that you can be loved the way you want to be
Oh, how I wish/how I wish
Yeah, that you would have let it be me.

He'll take a new shape
(you won't recognize him)
except his tongue will be forked
just like a snake
his eyes might be blue
or, perhaps they'll be brown
he'll say that he loves you
this time around.
He's into his power
(to keep you down)
he loves it when...
you cry like a clown.
He promises to make you
"a shooting star"
he'll lift up your hopes
that your dreams will go far.
He'll accuse you of things
that you would never do
because when he looks in the mirror...
he see's only you.

The prom Queen remembers when all her peers bowed down back then
they bowed to her beauty
they bowed to her grace
She never knew the term second place
The prom Queen ruled the halls /she ruled the teachers /she ruled the malls
I used to watch her shadow walk away some days
looking sad, and lonely in a kind of haze
Every girl wanted to be her/Oh, how every boy wanted her
The prom Queen has turned fifty three
wishing now she didn’t pay the price to be —
what others thought came so free
Her Mother saw her as a ghost you see…
she split on her when she was seventeen
The prom Queen was so thinly chic —
because no one knew she lived on the street.

There is a girl
that lives on my street
she has blonde hair n' blue eyes
she beams sunshine as she greets..
all the strangers that she meets
n'
She keeps secrets to herself
about all the darkness she's ever felt
This girl's been hurt too many times
and, so she's learned to run n' hide
from those who dare to get to know
all the sweetness inside her soul...
Oh, and she's so beautiful when she's alone
keeping her quiet passage  hidden, and unknown
You caught a glimpse of her dance..
passing her window just by chance...
n' you heard her sing a song...
where you thought angels could belong
with this girl that lives on your street
who beams sunshine to all she meets
but, then carefully retreats
n' you wonder to yourself
what exactly it would take
to show her how you could make
a world for her where she felt safe.

Those that knew her
described her as quiet, and nice.
She entered her own world
when she took the ice...
She liked the sound of her skates...
rhythmically cutting figure eights.
White chips of snow flew into her hair
circling her body - shooting out
as she fearlessly leaped into the air.
In an instant...
she was inside her world now
without a single worry, or care.
Mozart was playing just for her
she leaned into him with a flirtatious stare.
Captivated by her joy,
the audience had been taken there
(to her world she loved dancing on)
Swept away by the quiet skater,
a quiet Swan.

She smiled even in the rain
a clever ruse to disguise her pain
stopping to say, "Hello"
before turning to go...
Yeah, she smiled even when it rained
so it was quite a surprise
in everyone's eyes..
when they covered her face
in her imported lace
neighbors all gawked...
as they stood n' they talked...
saying...
"I saw her smiling in the rain the other day...
she held up her hand n' said, "Hey!"
--and as she walked by
there were tears in her eyes
as she quietly whispered...
Goodbye".

Rattle Snake Bob came swaggering in
with a gun in his boots n' smell'n like gin
He had one green eye, and a wandering blue
make'n ya wonder which one was look'n at you
With burry vision, and a sloppy slur
the swanky restaurant went silent in a minute, or two --
cause he was standing bear *** naked wear'n just a single shoe
waving his gun up in the air --
with last nights Chili n' gum mixed in his hair
My- oh -my how everyone stared
everyone knew to hit the deck
when the bullets went fly'n and bouncing like heck
See --
Rattle Snake Bob had a twin named Rob
who'd gone to Princeton and was a total snob
he'd majored in golf n' minored in Law
with a penchant for ladies...
that were dating ...*Bob

Her children have all grown
off to college
with great expectations all of their own
they're too busy
to pick up the phone...
so she sits all alone
and talks to her cat
(that sits on her lap)
staring at her
with an inquisitive look
(as if reading a book)
pages of years...
stories of tears
laughter and pain
jumping in puddles in the pouring rain
first day of school
standing up to bully's that are cruel
Halloween lights
pajama party
nights
flying kites
Picnics and plays
on sunny days
Tooth fairy's
milestones
anniversary's
skinned knees
bandades
sunscreen
bee stings
Calamine
Valentines
Art classes
guitar lessons
Thanksgiving
blessings..
(tick-tock/tick-tock)
goes the clock on the wall
that's witnessed it all...
now that she's all alone
her children all grown
except the purr of her cat
who sits on her lap
with an inquisitive look
as if reading a very good book.

We're all the same inside
no matter what our color, race, or eyes... may be
we all want freedom, and a place
to claim our dignity with a simple kind of grace
Hale to brave...
Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King...
you showed us how to spread our wings.
To fly above and sing...
"Rise together now"....
revealing to us all
how we can learn to stand up tall.
My sisters, and my brothers...
let's all start
by being kind to one another.

Rock me to sleep, and I will curl up in your strong arms
with your words you cradle me from harm
softly, softly you rock me with your arms
gently rocking me to to sleep from anyone who wants to harm
my soul to hurt — or, my soul to keep —
a soul like mine that’s pure, and good
darling, darling I feel understood
for the first time a man that will watch over me
who see’s my spirit
who see’s me.

In this world the Saints are Sinners and, Black n' White.
The cops are haters, and they start the fights.

I hear their victims scream at night. Yes--it feels like one big game of chess
where I'm the pawn n-- I'm moved around; can't make sense of up or down.

Never knew this place exists. I got cuts n' bruises on my wrists.

Saints with guns Saints are Sinners with Sinning Sinners that act like nuns.''Black is White". "Yes" means "No." "Up is "Down" cause the Sherrif's got me turned around.

That's right. Turned broad upside down n' kicking me, and I'm in tears --
that's right. Turned  broad upside down n' kicking me on then ground
---Oh, God --- Oh, God --- never planned to end up here.
this place is *****, and bleeding fear

Oh, God -- Oh God, wipe away my tears.

You are born into this world
you had no choice
later you find you have no voice
Your mother has you down as a bad seed
she wants to tug you up like a dead ****

dismissing you like a Queen
1,2,3,4
you're out the door at seventeen
cause when your mama drinks she gets so mean
knock down drag outs
in your face
you feel let down
yes, disgraced.
Now you're running
and, you feel chased.
Ten years later it's the same
pointing fingers
like you're to blame.
It's easier for them to lie this way
they never listen to what you say
anyway...
1,2,3,4
you can't take it anymore
the blame the shame
it's all their game
you're tired n' decided
to change your name.

Selah Salah was an ancient Hebrew Princess
she wanders along
Yeah, she sings along the shoreline all day long
an ocean ghost who once lived long ago
with long blonde hair
she tosses red roses up in the air...
catching them with her hands
her eyes glimmer blue, and gold like she secretly understands
all the quiet children playing in the sand
building sand castles with their little hands...
secrets they cannot tell
because a big person told them
they'd go straight to hell...
So she places a rose she's blessed near their feet
n' she says a prayer that this will keep
them safe from harm
asking angels to watch over them while they sleep.

September is the month love flew by
said good-bye
bye-bye-bye --
that's all I remember
about the rain in September
the rain rushing by with the wind
the wind, and the rain blowing the clouds to good-bye
pushing our love to good-bye
just like our love that flew bye
just like a bird flying high
I was too tired of your lies
and, the way you looked at me
the whole time you wanted to be
free, free, free
wish I could have seen
happier days with me
but it was not meant to be.

And now that you've vanished/ you're gone --
all that I have to say our these words that I've said today
in this song --
I wish that we could have gone on

but I've moved past September
toward the good days I remember
but those days are all gone--
and, I've moved on --
Yes, I've had to move along
Yes, September is the month love flew bye
it was the month I said good-bye
good-bye to you, and I ---.

She's the novel you have not read yet
with each chapter unfolding the next event...
You want to open her pages...
like a Queen or those of sages...
She's a mystery to you, and you want to know more
an element you can't define/you can't ignore
Her green eyes gaze confidently into yours
You find your mind wandering wanting/wanting
more n' more
of this woman who is a mystery to you...
she seems to be the only one to truly understand you...
through the Seasons of your life through darkness/through the night
you just know you want to take flight
with this mysterious woman --
night after night.

Oh, Oh --
She's so Tiger Chic
yeah, she's the kinda woman
the kind you wanna meet--
when you pass her
when you pass her on the street--
it could be in London /it could be in L.A.
a starry night in New York
or, in the middle of the day
you'll just be so happy
she happened across your way--

Oh, Oh -- and she's so Tiger Chic --
she's so badass in the Boardroom
she's even badass when she's sweet
Oh, Oh --  a badass kinda woman
the kind you really wanna meet.

Oh, Oh --and she's so Tiger Chic
she's doing calculous in her head--
n' she wants it poetic in her bed--
Oh -n' btw, she wants the pre-nup before she even weds--

She's an independent woman
yeah, she's so on her game
she's the kinda woman

Oh, Oh-- n' she's so Tiger Chic
the kinda woman
you'd beg to meet.

I took the short cut down to Marble Street the other day
to remind me of the cafe' where we met in May
We could of written our cute meet for the screen
just like a couple being filmed for a romantic scene...
I was wearing black n' white with my lacy jacquard tights
You were handsome wearing blue with your matching saddle shoes
That's when..
you winked at me above your book, and, then you looked away--
then I took you by surprise n' I smiled right into your eyes
and, then I looked away--
Oh, in a playful way---
That's when...
You swaggered so cooly up to me just as courteous as can be
but I pretended not to hear playing the naughty girl you see...
Yes, I was naughty I was bad cause I wanted you to chase after me ---
That's when...
I got up with my book tossing you that flirtatious look
that's when I knew I had you by the hook
because I watched the way you shook
then I reached out for your hand
I said,
I'm a woman that knows what she wants n' I won't tease n' I won't taunt
That's when you said,
I'm a man who understands, and I'll give you all the love I can,
Now we're...
taking the short cut down to Marble Street on this sunny day
and, it's been ten years in the month of May
You know, it's the little things you say
that makes me so happy you looked my way
Baby, there's no one else that brings so much happiness n' peace
you've brought joy into my life
I'm so grateful you're my wife...

That's when...
I melt right into you...

It's just another day in this sleepy little town
n' I know you dream about the day
when your ship is gonna finally come around
You’ve got big dreams with a big heart
but you feel like your life will never start
cause right you're down on your knees feeling torn apart
And now is not the time to quit on life
no, no — now is not the time to quit this game called life
You’ve got to believe that you can be anything you
want to be —
Yeah, yeah/Anything you want to be—
Girl, all you have to do is dream
Yeah, yeah/all you have to do is dream
Take all that passion that’s in your heart
n’ go on out n’ make your fresh start
Because nothing is ever out of reach
it’s just the small minds you’ve met that preach
that you were born here so that’s where you’ll die
and no one but you has ever asked them why —-
A girl can only dream of being someone’s wife —
I know you dream of bigger things
in your beautiful young life
Yeah, I know you want to be/you so want to be--
more than somebody's simple wife --
in this sleepy little town --
that you don't like hang'n 'round--
You wanna go where no one knows your name

This is how it's always been..
since you were the age of ten
your momma told you...
"Smile when you're feel'n blue
you'll find that others are happy for you
they don't have to know
that it's not true---"
you've lived your whole life up on the stage
a place to display
all your sadness, and your rage...
And your momma said...
"So smile even if you feel blue
they don't have to know
that it's not true--
don't stop those lights from flashing on you"
I know when I look deep in your eyes
you're tired of acting out so many lies
just take my hand
let's make some cool plans
we'll start all over in a new land
We'll buy a big house across the pond
with lots of cattle
n' lots of green lawn...
I hear you saying that we can't go
there's a new deal that you just can't blow...
"Momma needs a new car, dress, n' some shoes
I gotta smile even when I feel blue
they don't have to know that it's not true---"

The song bird sits on a sleepy
ice draped branch
in solitude
waiting for Spring to awaken
so it can sing
next to pink cherry blossoms
greeting the new day...
while carefully watching
the sun begin to rise
above snow topped mountains
telling her
it's time to sing again.

on a flight coming home again...
Paris, Spain, or Amsterdam
our eyes will meet from across the aisle
n' you'll give me that special smile...
you'll have that twinkle in your eyes..
the look that said, honey, won't you stay with me awhile
I've missed you for so long
n' I don't know where I went wrong...
My porch light has been on...
this whole time you've been gone...
just waiting for you to come along
I just don't know how to be
without you there's just no me...
So please baby, come on home..
I don't want to live alone.

Something to love more than myself
someone to love with good cheer, and good health
you don’t feel quite so alone when there’s someone to call
Yes, someone to love/to cherish and love/Yes, someone to have
Yeah, to have and to hold
the family you’ve sewn /you've stitched together
you can call, call, call - them your own
quilted parts that know your soul, and your heart
you’ve weaved them together /they’re now all part of your home
something to love so you’re never alone
no never alone --
then there's that man, man, man --
who understands, and makes you feel whole --
that man, man, man
that understands every bit of your mind, and your soul

The quiet of the willow tree
beckons the quiet inside of me
outside my open window it sings a song
whispering lyrics all winter long…
there’s a rhythm of the local train
a back up beat that remains the same
I hear it in the dark of night
with the moon outside shining bright
calming me with soothing light
Oh, I love the quiet of the willow tree
beckoning the quiet inside of me
swaying me gently like a lullaby…
swaying my dreams up toward the sky
as I hear the train whistle blow on by.

Sorry, no
I don't think so

I don't do that anyway
I don't know why you think that way
cause I'm a woman with some class

Yeah, cause I'm a woman with some sass
And, I'm not just a piece of a**

Sorry, No
I don't think so

Baby, if you can't learn to treat me right
I'll kick, and scream each and every night

So, there's the door
I don't want to be with you...
anymore

and, I'll bury you in the ground
while I'm boxing you up n' down
that's alright by me
cause don't you see...

Well, baby that's just me

I will bite,
and kick and scratch
cause I'm a woman with some sass
Yes, I will kick
Yes, I'll bite
and, I will scratch
Cause baby, that's just me
hope you can finally see

I'm like a cat
I'll scratch, claw, and kick
I'll hiss
I'll do way more than this...

Baby, you better treat me right
because I will put up a fight

Sorry, No
I don't think so

If you think you can get like that
Yeah Baby, I'm gonna be a cat
I'll claw you up n' down
until you can't take another round...

Sorry, No
I don't think so..

Cause you don't know
who you're messing with
while you're saying you're with me
the whole time you've been with her

Sorry, No
I don't think so

Cause you just don't know
who you're messing with
Baby, I can be a total *****
you have no idea who you're messing with

I'm spinning around
I'm moving at the speed of sound...
I dance
I prance
I listen to Delerium
In a trance
I jump up in the air like I'm skating on ice..
Imagine a "V"
I touch my toes ~ it feels nice
Energy pulsating through my veins
I'm spinning around...
I don't ever want to touch the ground
I go for a run
when I feel spun
(To the a** hole shrink that said I'd never be William Faulkner)
That's not my style
that's not who I want to be...
n' you're never going to know

As I'm spinning around
My vision is clear/I truly see...
You're not in my body..
You're not me.

I had a vision of a globe spinning once upon a time
And, I heard a song playing with these words
this is how it rhymed,
China joined Russia while Peru fell off the map
Yes, while the United States had been sleeping
our President had gone out, or had been taking a very long nap
Australia went South, while Florida went North
the world was changing so fast, and a prophecy was set forth
I can't explain this vision, I cannot know that right now
the world was changing so fast, and I couldn't figure out how
All I know is the United States had been sleeping
that's all I know for sure right now.

Stand alone when you know it's right
truth is beauty held up to light
there will be people that want your soul
to do their will/to have control
Your sword is truth/wave it high
part the sea/part the tide
fearless warriors never hide.
You are truth/you are light
you're like a candle shining bright
in the darkness/through the night
Use your words ...
to make things right
blaze through fire/cut through stone
you're the warrior...
that stands alone.

She flew in on a star shadow in the dark of the night
she flew in on wings/in a dream /in a dream/during flight
touching the sky/touching the light
rushing past colors of blue n' white /these star shadows
it was so bright/landing in a field of green/yes, she had at last found herself in fields of green
with golden flowing river streams
floating in/she was floating in
Oh, and how she loved this dream
The princess sleeps by the green fields with golden river streams
she sleeps...
She's so happy she no longer weeps.

The dance for you/the dance for me
it can always go this way -- or that way
it's a sort of a wait n' see...
There's always the one who wants to stay
n' there's always the one who wants to go
there's always the girl that's on the run
with the boy that wants to know
there's the boy that wants some fun
with the girl that says she's done
there's the one who likes to chase
with the one that likes the race
there's the boy that's always hiding
with the girl that's always crying...
It's a game of stay or go
neither one ever knows
how the dice will ever roll
the bottom line every time
is love can't be controlled.

Stay still..
the fan is moving in your kitchen
rotating back and forth
look
out your window
there are flowers
the rain is falling
the sun is shining
don't go
wait..
hold your breathe...
for the next amazing moment
even for a second..
just wait...
for the smile that may happen...
while you're at a stop light
that person...
could be God.

The front office lady that looked like a man as she handed over her belongings.  She remembered the man-lady's plump hotdog like fingers as her iPhone was pressed into her small, and delicate hand. One phone call allowed. With barely any battery charge left. Everyone she knew was busy at work back home. Scrambling to think of someone, anyone, she called her dry cleaner. Ring. Ring. Ring. A cheerful female voice answers, "He-roe, Sunshine Dry Creaning, how may help?" She nervously spoke, "Uhh, yeah this is-- Taylor. I need you to get me out of this place where I'm at". A pause. "Tay-loe? You have ticket? I can no barely hear." Click. The man-lady with fat fingers wearing man pants with a man shirt bellowed loudly, "We can't let you leave unless you reach someone on the phone!" Miraculously, the young girl's cousin twice removed in Kansas, five thousand miles away, picks up the next call. Hot dog fingers looks angry as she watches the young girl drag her belongings down a well maintained flowery garden path.  The iron gate squeaks open, and crashes loudly behind her. Her nerves feel shot, and she wonders how, or, even if she'll make it home, alive.  In the hot desert 120 degree sun she juggles a large water bottle in one hand as she drags a large melting trash bag on the lava like-desert pavement. She keeps having to run back to retrieve shampoo bottles. Stolen toothbrushes. Scattered clothes. Determined. She keeps walking with her garbage bag, and a single suitcase bumping along the gravel road.  An old beat-up station wagon slows down, and stops next to her. A car door swings open, and the young girl climbs inside.

Someone hands her a cold beer. The hot air from the open window burns her face as her hair blows carelessly in the air. They speed down a lonely desert highway located somewhere in, Nowhere, CA.

on ones back
under the stars
on a hill
with you…
smelling the scent of freshly cut grass
gazing at a butterfly fluttering nearby
I would give you daisies and roses

I would love that while feeling….

the way your arms curl around my hips
and the gentle touch of your lips
all over my body.

Is it really Sunday? I thought it was Monday...
I can..
go back to bed, or read for awhile
or, take a walk with a smile
I got up at four
thinking that I had to
head out the door...
Well, that being said,
I think I'll go
back to bed.

She was swept away on that stormy day
on a maiden ship she did board/dressed up in her finest clothes
and finest pearls
she had put her hair up the night before
to create her lovely curls
yes, she had promised to meet her lover
on a sunny New York day
instead she ended up swept away...
swallowed up in a stormy sea
it happened in the month of May...
Her name was Eloise, and she was like a breeze
of red roses, and that of wine...
when she spoke her words they were never terse
but always sweet, and always kind--
when she would walk on past
the gentlemen would gasp
at such grace n' beauty that she did display
they would scramble to tip their hats
trying to take in all her beauty
something to hold onto/something to make it last
Eloise was swept away on a stormy rainy day
she promised to meet her lover
on a sunny New York day
instead her lover waited every day for Eloise
to show up in the month of May.

Mom can you make a list of what you see in me?
I  just want a reminder of the goodness
that's inside my heart/that rests inside of me
I'll tape it to the fridge/or, on the kitchen wall
Do you think you could give me a call?
Or, you could just put it in a letter
so I can begin to feel a little better...
I'll be reminded
that I am worthy of receiving love
within this Universe
Because right now it feels like I've been cursed..
Please tell me what you see...
remind me of all the goodness
that still rests inside my heart/that's dormant inside of me.

I remember you came home wasted on that cold November day
making sure that I would pay
because I would not kneel at your feet
No, I would not obey...
You made it clear with your threats
that I would pay in someway
Yeah, with your nashing teeth that I'd obey
or, you'd be sure to throw me out on the street..
with my daughter at my feet...
we ran out that night in the cold
Yeah, we jumped out the window with my phone
and, here we are down the road
I'm still not doing what I've been told
You're keeping your promise you made to me
hell bent on making me see...
that you are right...
just for the record you terrified us that night
the conclusion/ and it is this...
that all along..
you think that you're always gonna be right
n' I will always be the one ..
that's gonna be wrong.

FADE IN:

V.O.
(sultry female voice)

I'm that girl..
(you know the one)
she strolls into an Advanced Creative Writing class
wearing leopard skin boots
designer jeans
smelling like coconut
Swaggering Confidence
like she owns the room
You feel her energy
when her skin brushes up against yours
it's so electric
and, you're the guy that sits down across from her
just wishing she'd look your way
(but I don't)
my focus is on my professor.
He loves that I stare at him occasionally
as I take notes
and, it makes him blush
causing him to turn away
nervously
as if being caught...
"thinking those naughty thoughts"
I'm the girl that works really hard
but -- everything comes so easily.
Yeah,
I'm the girl that gets an A+ every time.
And -- you just might be the guy
that hates me for it.

That which I cannot do
would be
to ever stop
loving you
for all the sweet flowers
in the Spring
your joyful laugh
and, kind heart
mean everything
though you are there
and, I am here
my love for you
remains -- forever near.

He thought he was in touch with the Lord
ranting, and raving from the pulpit
with his Bible like a sword!
I was five and Oh, so bored
thinking this is so twisted, and messed up
these men wouldn't even allow make-up
"Get thee behind me" is what they'd shout
Again,  I'm only five thinking this is f-d' up
No doctors for bleeding ears
just a ton of painful crying tears
loss of hearing being just one thing
that her religion brought onto me
the pain that I endured
you can't imagine the nightmare that occurred
but my Mother denies it to this day
saying to accept it all today
like lying to yourself
putting your feelings on a shelf
I cannot deny this past....
but, I have uncaged myself at last.

I caught a glimpse of you across the street
your eyes scorned my torn clothes, and ***** feet

I glanced away quickly on that day
feeling judged, and embarrassed to look this way --

I keep a pen, and paper in my hand to write my stories
I describe what's in my soul and, who I am.
I hope one day someone remembers me
I was once a great fighter in the Baltic Sea
a captain of a great ship called the Marna Dee

Now I beg for warm places to lay my head
I beg for dollars, and for dimes
wishing daily that I'll get fed.

I beg for stories on the street
through all the strangers that I meet
who offer more than scornful eyes
that pay me kind, and cheerful smiles
when they happen to walk on by.

The closest thing to love is the light that shines through you
even in your darkest hour --
search inside the heart so it can find you too.
The closest thing to peace is the calm within your soul
even in your darkest hour --
it's the heart that always knows.
The closest thing to joy is the smile I give to you
erasing all your darkest hours --
shining love right back to you.

I call out your name from another room
but your mind is trapped inside the color blue
I want to pull you out of shattered glass --
from all that haunts you in your past
you are here but you're still there
where bombs, and blood are everywhere --
lost in the color blue while you're
wandering from room to room
you are trapped inside the color blue
I keep searching for an open door
to tell you that you're home from war
you are here but you're still there
trapped inside the color blue
but, I keep searching from room to room
forever, and ever until I've found you.

In the darkness of the moon
without a future or a past
where there are no left turns back
between the minutes that never last
I am within your silent whispers
found in the darkness of holy secrets
I've been read about in ancient myths
I am the darkness of the moon
and,
I am attracted to quiet prayers
I am floating in the air...
I'll be present when you feel it
I am the stillness of your spirit
found in the darkness of the moon without a future or a past
I am the mystery of the moment
between the seconds that never last.

I haven't met you yet
but your eyes were so dark, and wild
your thoughts were sparked with fire...
like those of a mystery held inside a child
you uttered something about Kepler
or Shakespeare, perhaps...
I watched your soft lips moving
and, I knew I was in love
that we...
were in love.
