Xel
Hadrian Veska Apr 2019
Xel
The surface only vapors
Of a stirring ocean below
Long sterile and dark
It conceals vague shadows
Obscure shapes and forms
That are not meant to be
There is no sun
The world is darkness
An unending sea of chaos

A Spirit hovers over the waters
Hadrian Veska Mar 2017
I want to know what it's like
To be myself around someone.
To be truly accepted,
Flaws and all;
To be at ease,
And to feel loved.
Hadrian Veska Aug 2016
I've grown lonely
And tired of faking
Composed on the outside
But inside I'm shaking

The world is deafening
But my head is silent
My thoughts swirl
Tempting and violent

What I wouldn't give
For a passing smile
A kind gesture
To make it worthwhile

But I'm alone in this world
And painfully so
No one understands
And no one will known

That behind the smile
Hidden deep down
Is a broken person
Hoping to be found

Far stars awake from slumber
From hiding and places lost
The world has been reborn
And life again stirs

Green returns from desolation
Scars heal and fire fades
Curious eyes look up once more
To the now empty heavens

Where your light once shone

Washed moss stone
Guarding turtle shell shores
Down the dirt road
You'll find the giant snores

A small stone house
With thin plumes of smoke
Beasts of burden sleep
Laid beside their yoke

The skies hang low
A dull and overcast Grey
A moment ago I left
Now wishing I had stayed

But I know within myself
That the way I chose is right
That in time the sun will rise
And bring it's brilliant light

For now the rain comes
If only but a shower
Through it I'll go on
Though I lack the power

To make it to that place
Solely on my own
The ideal in my own mind
That fateful seed I've sown

Yet the world about remains
And rests from it's great work
So I in turn will rest
In the belly of the earth

Drip, drop
Moss on the rocks
Overcast sky
The canopy blocks
Fall, flow
Down the great stream
Carrying all
To where we do dream
Dream, sleep
In waters still
That in your mind
You find your fill
Hadrian Veska May 2016
The thunder clapped in the heavens
Followed by a burst of lightening
That lit the night sky ablaze

I had failed in my quest
The world I meant to save
Turned to ashes before my eyes

The rain poured down
On the mounds of dead bodies
That I was too weak to save

"You are alone" he scoffed
As he stood before me
His voice the very thunder itself

Though he wasn't wrong
I was alone now
And had always been

I was no longer fighting for salvation
My sole purpose now was revenge
For those innocence that lay slaughtered

I was badly wounded
But I raised my sword once more
As blood flowed down the blade

Then I charged
With all the strength I could muster
One last time

And as I ran I thought I heard
Voices far off in the distance
Calling out to me saying,

"You are not alone"

You are nothing
That you don't have to be
You aren't some hero
Or menace to me
You are just you
And for me that's enough
I don't need adventure
Or drama or stuff
All I need is you
that's really all I want
No need of a prize
Or trophy to flaunt
You is enough
Even more than you know
I just wish it were something
That's easier to show
Hadrian Veska May 2016
The curve of the Earth
So peaceful and elegant
A mist of blue stretched
Over forests of green
The bird sings it's song
High in the trees
A tale of a young world
Hidden among the heavens

I've seen your dreams
Murky, foggy
An old pier at the edge of the sea
The sky ill defined
And ever shifting

Such as it is in all dreams

From my perch beyond the glass
I watch your unconscious actions
A steady wading into still waters
Until the sea sits above your eyes

A silent bell tolls

Ushering in change unperceived
You walk backwards to shore
The slate grey sands
Shaped by your feet

You are not the same

You are changed
And though your head
Was not engulfed by the waters
It is only a matter of time

Before your mind is submerged as well

Beneath the ink black waves

Carry the throne you've built
Of lies, contempt and deceit
You will not rest upon it
But carry it on your back
For it weighs heavy on you
Not your body but your soul
In the end it will crush you
No matter how great you become
You'll die a shadow and wait in judgement
Until your the reckoning has come
There at the end will you sit
Judged in the halls of your fathers
That throne you pointed to
As proof of your power
Will be like a millstone around your own neck
And when judgement is passed will it drag you
Down to the very depths of hell
Hadrian Veska Jul 2018
The skies a seventh
Of the waters below
Greater seas in heaven
Yet to be known
Vast oceans buried
Beneath red sand
Long aeons ago
Our promised Land

— The End —
