she kissed and told
the world my secrets,
stole my strength and
gave to me weakness.

They Lied To Me
 Jul 2016 gr
Matt
They lied to me.
They tried to tell me
what to care about,
what my interests should be.
They tried to tell me
who I am.

They lied to me.
They tried to tell me what to dream;
then helped to tear those dreams down.
They told me they would be there for me;
yet they were as baseless as their words.
The natural company of misery;
a friend to the friendless.

They lied to me.
They wanted me to believe
that this is what it means to be a man.
Now I know and I can’t look back.
I gave it all a chance,
but it’s time to clear out my brain.
What was once there has now gone.

As I sit on bended knees and pray,
I know there must be a better way.
I come before You with blinded eyes;
seeking Your presence.
I ask that You may lead so I can follow,
that You may teach so I can serve.

They lied to me,
but I know You won’t.
For this is not faith,
nor is it confidence,
it is assurance
etched deeply in my heart.

disconsolate
It's been 121.747 days
i still feel an ache in my chest
when i see your name
when i see your face.

It's been 121.747 days
since i've heard your voice
since you've called my name.

It's been 121.747 days
since i said the words "let's break up"
in a spur of rage and hate.

It has been 121.747 days of regret

and counting.

When our hair turns gray
And our memories fade
When our bones get weak
And we lose our teeth
When our meds increase
And our hearings decrease
When everything else turns gray and old
I promise you, our love will stay safe and gold
Immortalized in this poem, my love
For the generations to unfold

i can feel your heart beat
the proof of your existence
lying against me
your breath
still lingers in the air
the December chill
makes me shiver
but its worth the cold
to remind of your warmth
