Not drunk,
yet not sober.
The ones who've left you,
hardly consoled.

At the moment,
I don't know why they would ever leave.

the black and white notebook
perched on your bookshelf
reeks of aged blood
and insincere thoughts

does your mind
no longer prosper
the way you once described it?

you sang sweet lullabies
to the dark isle of trees
beckoning you to
distance yourself once again.

remind me why we
refuse to cry
what happened to the hope?
rejuvenation is scarce

my dear, what has it come to?
*you taught me nothing

Effortless hours
Darker Skin
Pale moonlight
To golden trim
Delicate flower
Nourished by sun
Rising to meet
A sun-kissed one
Beach combed hair
Waves of curls
Gentle flags
That slowly unfurl
Hours of ocean
And bodies coated in lotion
Towel dried hair
Some dark some fair
How tectonics shift
As continents drift apart,
Oceans open up.

Now you, undeterred
Ascend the promontory,
Cross the esplanade.

Poised with honours,
You sidle the cliff edge path
Predator to prey.

Await your moment.
Swoop, gliding on the uplift,
Behind you a trail.

My mirth, invested in you
This day escapes me.
A parting gift.

long white knives
that peirce through the
skin
of their prey
first they softly
puncture
thrickles of blood
dripping from the
fresh
pink
wound
then, they dig deeper
slowly
blood runs
faster
as the predator
***** it in
a maroon mess
finally
it lets go
and pulls the once
white teeth
now
decorated in royal red
