“We are all equal! Made in god’s image!”
Except, of course,
The two male sinners
Kissing behind closed doors
Those two female demons
Who hold hands when no one sees
That criminal over there
Who claims to be a girl
And not a boy
And that other criminal
Who is a girl but wants to be a boy
The person spreading propaganda
That these people deserve ‘respect’.
And of course, the devil over there
Who is not a boy or girl
My family asks why I keep them at a distance
And I tell them
That every time I open my heart
They shroud it in black dust
From the cruelty of their words
Words from good intentions gone wrong
Wrongful actions
Disguised as "I did this for you."
"And I am your mother."
A mother's love
I know is there
Somewhere
But it just breaks my heart
To know
I have found more safety
In the harbor of a stranger's home
Than in my own family's docks

waiting for someone
to come by and steal my heart
for the black market

walking the graveyard with a torch and a Sack
I once went with only the clothes on my Back
feeling full Force the weight of the Course
I'm obliged to continue along the dark Track
Wrote this one in my head while walking home from work a few months ago.

it feels pretty strange
being called by a phrase
that isn't my name
