Looking up for you now
staring down the night

Nowhere to go now, love
that you've taken your own life.

Last night I thought
I saw your constellation
orbiting the moon.

In another life
I would have known you.
Quiet like the stars in the night
....ever shining.

2am
Calls of thunder,
and lightening strikes,
anything strong enough
to break through the ice,
the silence between us
is cutting like a knife,
it's 2am and you're
roaming the night,
wandering without me
beneath city lights,
I'm down on my knees
crying tears of moonlight,
begging
with a desperate plea,
I've sinned
a thousand times,
but you always
wash me clean,
leaving me as pure,
as the salt in the sea,
the sun is rising,
you're walking the streets,
I'm still waiting,
wondering,
are you coming back to me?

I didn't know your name
At least... not until that day
That day you passed away
We weren't close in age
You were a freshman at a different high school
I was a rebel, getting my license at 18
I guess that's not important
This is your story, not mine
And it ended too soon
That pick-up just couldn't stop though
I wish there was a miracle
Maybe just a nudge
You'd fall off your bike and scrape your knees at the worst
I didn't know your name, but I tied a rose to that stop sign
Written as a memorial to a girl I never knew. She was hit by a pick-up while biking to school. I was pretty messed up about it when it happened, and still think of her on occasion.

Childhood dreams within a vacant memory
Thinking of the dark shadows who haunt my lost past.
Sanity escapes  my mind as she constantly whispers to sing in the soft veil of night.
Against my will she forces another tomorrow.
Subtle breezes of sorrow follow behind me.
Reminded by my clouded thinking
I'm confused by the signs
Taken by the soft touch of flame against me
I become unbreakable like a polished stone in a sea of  sand. The years have slowly melted me outside the box.

If I could show you
              how it would be
                    if freedom were
                            in our palms
                   how it would feel to
                  be released,
                 a caged dove
       set into the cooling
swiftness of air
If I could dry your tears
and make you understand
that this will be
      more than ok
because happiness is right
around the corner
just a little faith
yes
just a little belief
in the mysterious ,
          unknown workings
The Universe has my back
and if it has mine,
I have yours
there is not one moment
that you will see
this back turned
or face hidden
my arms are meant
to enfold you
my calm to steady you
               Now
                    it feels like
                         being stuck
                                   in a wheel
                        round and round
                options limited
but once the break is made
I will be drifting up
my heart that dove
for I cannot let her die
(if I die a part of you dies, too)
and once you see me
spin her off into the light
the grace of heaven
allowing me to keep
my own ignition burning
you know you will have me
until the depths of sky
and into the wilds
of our
   tender
forever
To my babies. After an important  talk with my daughter. The link was the song we heard ...not my usual style but it totally inspired me

Some of the best words of art
come from the most
bruised and battered
of hearts.

You can use a heavy blindfold
Tie it to a chair
Throw it in a waiting trunk
Take it far from here

Ask it out fishing with you
Miles away from shore
Grab it when its back is turned
Toss it overboard

Hope against hope
That it'll give up the ghost
But love for loves sake
Will always make its way back home

You can climb the highest mountain
Push it off a cliff
Peer over to the bottom
Watch it as it hits

Place it in a rocket
Shoot it to the moon
While it's up in orbit
Pack your stuff and move

Though you would think by now
That by now you'd know
Love will always find a way
To make its way back home

Take it to the wild side of town
Sell it to the gypsies
Whisper underneath your breath
Hope that you don't miss me

When the weather's cooler
Take it to the fair
While in the house of mirrors
Leave its reflection there

Even when it's stranded
Left to shiver in the cold
Love in all its wonder
Will make its way back home

Singed on my skin
is a memory
burnt on my thoughts
are your eyes
with a touch
you calm the raging waters
within me
as I wade through a flood

This tattoo stain
stings my soul at night
waking me in a river of wonder

Paranoia in the brain
hearing soft voices calling
I hear you through the wall

The void above sends messages
yet hides behind itself

The stars are calling
I can't find a way to answer

Alone, I slumber in a hole of thought
