Alone the third thing can't be known.
Alone, I am a cold, dark stone
In a universe yawning lusterless,
Spinning void of aim.

Then light shines
In eyes and skies
Of gray and blue
And I am a new daymoon.

Night leads the day
As day ushers night;
Light follows darkness
As darkness the light.

I follow, you pull;
Take my arm, check my stride.
You and I mark time and tide.

We meet.
We pass.
We kiss.
Eclipse.
Heart quivers and the heavens shift.

"Let us go then, you and I,"
Wend our way across the sky.

The unknown beckons
To me and you
Where green meets hues
Of gray and blue.
Infinite line: horizons new.

Misty islands ships drift past,
Clouds cut by spires of stone, steel and glass,
Cities bright in alley pools,
Magic light on windswept moors.

Prairie hills in gentle rain,
Northwood pines sun washed again,
Spring moss upon the forest floor,
A different green on the unopened door.

"Let us go then, you and I,"
Together take the road untried;
Wend our way across the sky:
A little sphere of green and blue
'Round which we dance,

Me and you.
For my Love, on Valentine's Day 2019. (Inspired by Donald Hall, “The Third Thing,” Poetry Magazine, November 2004.)

Do you remember when time stood still,
and inner child was front and center?
Where hours didn't exist in playgrounds sand
and voice sang in freedom daily even off key.

Do you recall when dreams carried breath,
and self danced alone with morning birds?
Where smiles came easy
and worry alluded present moments.

Do you remember when mother came
reaching to hug and sooth all wounds?
Where life seemed simple
inside fun and games.

I recall it all and pass the ball to you
to celebrate life and
it’s gift inside all phases of expansion.
Inspired by Pagan Paul a grand writer. Thank you

I've had more than enough
As I shoot from the cuff
Hitting my foot every time

You'd think I would learn
As soon as shots are heard
To get out of the line of fire

What seems to be my fate
Either early or late
Never am I on time

As many comes as there are goes
You'd think by now I'd know
Where life and love intertwine

But I seriously doubt
I'll ever see inside that box
As I only know what's up
With the downside of love

Is it the fact I'm a man
And can't stick with a plan
Taking time to follow the signs

To see if they lead
To a heart that's in need
One I can share with mine

If I take a deep breath
Let out the one that I've kept
Packed tight in my lungs all this time

No telling where it might lead
Could be that single heartbeat
I have been hoping to find

But I seriously doubt
I'll ever see inside that box
As I only know what's up
With the downside of love

What is ever truthful, and is anything real?
Just have to believe it...just have to...
I try to hold the tears back, they still fall
Uncontrollably, no more and again, again
They fall...
Disenchanted songs play in my head
Thoughts like water shed, overflow
Beyond the cliff, Down to drift free
All this disbelief is made of dark
Things that attack and hurt the soul
In this place there is nowhere to go
No way to grow, the more warmth
You bare, the colder they stare and
So, you disappear because it’s what
They want and you can’t please
Everyone, so the only thing to do is
Pick yourself up and move on until
You don’t fall, keep trying in hopes
You’ll find the glow of a star that's true...
Baring my soul here, it is human to feel...just being real which is hard for me sometimes.  I am used to putting on that happy face like a lot of people.  In a sad state today.  I arrived at work this morning, and thirty minutes later was called into an office with my supervisor and a HR rep and fired for a vague reason.  I was given the choice to resign within two days or be discharged.  I chose to be discharged because it doesn't feel right to resign when I was told to and not my choice.  My dad died on 12/20/18, and it was hard enough to go into work while still in the grieving process.  This poem is a release of some of what I've been feeling.  Just being real.  Peace and love! <3

If we're together
When we're older,
If one's not left for another,
If one's not dead,
Or out of sorts
Or imprisoned on an institutional bed;
Let me tell what lies ahead.

We'll go to sleep wearing socks,
And rise by our internal clocks;
While on walks we'll hold hands,
And listen while the other talks.
We'll sit content by the St. Clair River
In Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter.

We'll have our tea and buttered toast,
On weekends enjoy your Sunday Roast.
Around the table our children sit,
With grandkids we're blessed to be with.
Then, in the evening, when all are gone,
And we're in our home of homes,
I'll confess my love again;
You're all I've wanted all along.
