i can feel the new ties
binding

is this it

the end of
blurred lines
yearning gazes filled with
misunderstood
silence

constant conflicts
between the need to live
today
and desperately survive
tomorrow

is this when we finally
adjust
to life

like they all did before us

we always did
dwell
too long

you look happy now

is this when we at last
leave love
and turn to
friendship

Snap, snap
Against my wrist.
Snap, snap
Escape my twitch.
Snap, snap!

And I’m gone.
Slingshot, catapult, trampoline,
Snap. Snap.
Pull me back
Towards safety, baby
Snap, snap.

Something coiling
Above my stomach
Snap, snap:
Start to plummet,
Feeling nothing
Snap, snap:
Try to regain
All but chest pain
Snap, snap.

Begin to wonder
As I fall asunder
If this safety net
Hanging on my wrist
Would do me any better,
Apart in my fist –
Snap! Snap!

Don’t think these things,
I tell myself,
Snap, snap,
I hold myself
To my routine,
Snap, snap,
To keep me sane.

My words are lost.
I speak
But now I stutter.
I think
But nothing comes out.
My words are gone.
I can't remember what
I used to write.
My words have run.
I am smart
Was smart
But now
Words
Are
Lost.

Sticks and stones...

Thoughts are just
sticks and stones.

But words...
They break bones.

I'm going to live
in a house by the sea,
to gaze at the water,
and find peace
within me.
I'm going to wander,
the shores of forever,
to collect little sea shells
that hold secrets of thunder.
I'm roaming the shore,
to hear the sea roar,
with its kindness,
and power,
it cries forever more.
It's a place to find peace,
beneath its blue deep,
but it will swallow you whole,
if you perceive it as weak.
It's a place of wonder,
with its swimming baby flounders,
with its sand dollars,
and salmon,
its salty blue water.
If you gaze at it long enough,
you'll stare at it forever,
and finally find peace,
within all its wonder.
This sea has been rolling,
it's older than thunder.
It has wisdom for those,
who respect all its power,
but it takes lying on its shores,
when you are seeking shelter,
and resting your head
when you're in need of slumber.
This place is a refuge
in the heat of summer.
You can gaze at the water,
and swim with the flounders,
or lay there,
and dream,
lost in its wonder,
in these rolling tides
of salty blue water.
I'm going to the sea.
