Gaffer
The rain had brought the animals into shelter
They were wary of him
He could sense their concern
The smell was wrong
He was the unknown
He felt the same
Always out of place
His mind drifted back
Her face came into view
The words distorting
Anger through the tears
She would find another
He was sure of that
The snake slithered over him
Curious, but alert to danger
Trigger alert, just like him
He hated going back
They hated him
**** water townsfolk
They flew the flag
But not for him
His surroundings suited
Camouflaged, just like his life
They came into view
Four shots, death in the rain
The animals scattered for a time
But slowly returned
They were wary of him
The smell was wrong
Dead humans appeared to surround him
Her face came into view
The words distorting
Flags were waving
She understood now
The animals began to accept him
He was part of the surroundings.

Scary laugh lines
Hide the pain
The eyes wide open, heavy
Wanting to rain the darkness
To see the light within
Withheld to masquerade
The dark side of life
One master stroke
To finish the piece
When the artist and the portrait
Merge in one
Some works of art
Fill you with both, fear and sadness
Touches your core!!

Inspired by a portrait, Anonymous Artist

There is a reason
Yet no rhyme to it
Life brings twists and turns
Some right and a few wrong
Happiness in life sometimes bought
Fragile the wings
Guarantee period, it promises not
Fragile and tender, the wings held dear
Fly you can...maybe not
Dance out your heart and make the memories last

In my hours of bliss
Here in this world full of words
In my time of grief
You’re my poem I’ll always write
and the story of my life

No name provided
Sit and have a conclusion, vice
In the wishes of other's, the truth of a tongue
To remember the resolve of we're, twice

Simply a nice day to behold...
Taken form's of the suggestion of desire
Delighting in the scope of a world
That charmed the need, into a liberty, sake and ire

Ironic meeting you here...
Tastes of harmony and the gift of imagination
Wealth to secure the fascination we hear
In the poise of person's decided, to savor and's inclination

Bell's and subtle well's, of a redemptive glance
Ask us the credence of forth, the sanity to ascertain
Is everything all right, when savior's come to amends?
And a clock has said the obvious, we are one until invited, maying

Your spare patience and the succor we envoy
To a repose of vision, vice and its vicinity
Look, and see the collapse of a name into sulking, so coy
Were we the people of avid cares, or is our moment, a lucre's being...?
Time is a telling cold to be different, time is a swelling heat to be deference. What are we … hell's divination

I was crowned a Victor
For a battle I didn't fight
That is what you call
"More than a conqueror"
All credits to my Saviour
His name is Jesus!

grumpy thumb
Smudge of light
dim on pavement
made damp by drizzle.
Morning haze softening colours,
smoothing harshness
to pastels unobtrusive,
Extending the awakening dawn
void of witness to the rising sun.
Muted chorus of lark and blackbird
sensing the absence,
forlorn.
His last piece of work I touch everyday
and feel not the water but sadness
flowing from the faucet.

From the sound of the sink
I hear him say
didn't I do a good job?
not once broke down
but think of her
she's broken down
the faucet has withstood
she hasn't
there I did a bad job
letting water flow down
the broken valves of her heart.

Disgusted, and saddened
Vicki’s poetry (and kindness) is an absolute inspiration
She was one of the first (along with Mary, Pradip and WK) to take the time to read and comment on my mediocre work...a jolt every aspiring poet needs
If you are listening Vicki...God bless you
