Early in its life, this grand old tree
decided to grow in opposite directions at once.

Not exactly conducive to longevity
my beautiful, leafy friend.

I know.

You have seen many of us,
also our marriages, our families
trying to do the same, impossible thing.

Inevitably, the weight of years, the pull of gravity
splits us down the middle, leaving us with a fatal wound,
like this one of yours, old friend.

Recent, rogue storms,
torquing you with gale force winds,
have opened fresh, damaging splits.

Even your own generous embrace of the sky
has left you open to disease where you are weakest,
as are we, dear friend, who have stood in your shade
imagining you destined for a venerable old age.

It is not to be, not this time.

Already, limbs are being cut down to lessen the risk
to the neighbor's roof, and to the skulls of passing pedestrians.

Enough of you will be left,
as the chilly nights come on,
for you to blaze out
in generous, leafy glory,
one last time.

The blowing of the wind,
The rustling of the leaves,
The blooming flowers,
And the heightened trees,
The blazing sun,
And the radiance of the fruits,
Flying bugs,
And tiny feet,
The journey of a bee,
From its hive and crossing the sea,
Animals in the wilderness,
Free to do as they please,
The flying dandelion,
Circling in the air,
Under the tree,
I lie,
Lost in my thoughts.
How beautiful is nature,
And the mind of our Creator,
Who so artistically,
Created and gave life to these beings.

The smoothest
Tree I ever seen
Was the one that caught
My eye.
I made the tree leaves
My wings,
Just to fly.
I rode by
You,
And everybody else.
I twirled around my
Problems,
And bad health.
I smiled
With the branches
Protecting me.
I smelled like
Leaves covering over
Me.
I looked like that tree,
The one that
I never seen.

grumpy thumb
Graceful quiescent
bronze ballerina
frozen liquid pirouette
rooted from toe-tip
flowing calf to thigh stem
stretch sublime.
Off-shoot extends
then bends
at knee
runs the shin to
soft ankle twist.
Toe to knee again.
Budding groin
torso flowering divine
unfolding to
delicate swan neck leaning
face in ecstasy
tilting up.
Petal arms reaching
slightly bowing
to tulip cup.
Finger tips
elegantly caress
the sky.
it is within us
vague yet vivid
soundless yet deafening
boundless yet finite
this could be nothing
if you see it
as a perception of your mind
this could be everything
if you believe in it
beyond your limitation*
