Dead soldiers, lined up in a row,
Short history, how many more to go?
Dead sailors, some of them in an alley
Not sailing anywhere anymore are they?
Dead airmen, and also dead marines.
What if we’d been where they’ve been?
Men and women, fathers and mothers
We are burying our sisters and brothers.

Hut, two, three, four,
What the hell are we fighting for?
Five, six, seven, eight!
I’ll go to heaven if it’s not too late!

Dead soldiers, not just bottles of beer;
More come back home dead every year.
Used people, we let them get thrown away
By listening to what rich crooks had to say
Their empty promises were all about glory
But remember, most of that word spells gory.
Expendables, in the Big Game of profit.
The proceeds, none of them ever got it.

Hut, two, three, four,
What the hell are we fighting for?
Five, six, seven, eight!
I’ll go to heaven if it’s not too late!

Salute and makes parades, of course
And pin the cheap medals on a corpse,
A kid under orders to invade and ****
Hoping leaders wake, but they never will.
The politicians get rich in office when
They sing  patriotic war songs again.
Someday we all can stop all the killing
If love, providence and all gods are willing.

Hut, two, three, four,
What the hell are we fighting for?
Five, six, seven, eight!
I’ll go to heaven if it’s not too late!
Sun perched in the trees,
why do you stare at me?
I’ve not sinned!
Sun perched in the trees,
why can’t you leave me be?
Rest already so I can breathe,
I’m barely standing,
on my knees.
Your piercing gaze,
jets through me.
You ******* sun,
let the night take thee.
A stain in the sky,
blistering high,
perched in the trees,
let me be!
I’ll trade you for anything,
even disease,
just bury yourself deep,
into stone and granite.
Settle behind cloudy seas,
burrow into hillsides if need be,
just avert your gaze,
sun perched in the trees.

A stubborn heart,
Fearless soul
A curious mind.

I once dared to be brave,
I did not dive off of a cliff.
I did not sail into the wild sea,
I did let myself feel.

I let my emotions take full control of me,
No denial
No repression
Full control.

It gave me freedom to explore seas of my own,
let me sail into experiences with no expectations.
It gave me limitless bravery, as I let myself feel to the fullest.

Letting go of all restrain meant I began each venture with a blank canvas.
Letting my feelings paint as I threw myself into what was presented to me,
It would’ve seemed each canvas was painted by a different artist.

A whole world of my own and all in my head.
I go there sometimes.
I go to explore, I go there when I’m scared of what I can’t understand.

I withdraw into that world when the physical one confuses me.
I go there when I try to understand the world in the head of who I love.
I probably infer too much, think for others too much
I can’t help it.
I can’t help but liberate the curiosity of anticipating the ending.
I can't help but feel the the universe is trying to understand itself.

I’m loud, quiet
I’m bold, subtle
I’m loving, selfish
I’m confident, vulnerable
I’m detached, attached
I’m honest, insincere
I’m outgoing, shy.

That’s just the beginning. so I ask you to pray for the brave.
Pray because we throw of ourselves into anything we believe we can grasp,
Pray because we won’t ever give up on what we love,
Pray because we will feel the whole emotional spectrum ,
Pray because we won’t do it ourselves.

-on a person's 20th birthday

When I turned twenty I couldn't wait,
so sure was I to change the world.
Exactly right were all my thoughts
I couldn't ever stop to state.

So I turned fourty while I built and built
on top of my precisely stated schemes.
My loved ones warned me for collapse
but I would never stop, in it to the hilt.

When I turned sixty, felt a faint crack,
not in my infallible buildings
but in my overstressed back.

Now that I am eighty years of age
I know the way to perfection:
the missing line in your design
opens your cage for the future page.
Hmm. 4 stanzas x 4 lines makes 16 lines. 1 line missing + 4 makes 5. And 5 times 4 makes a pretty girl's 20 years. I knew it worked somehow ;-)

Pop bottles. Boxes of them.
The old man brought them home.
He collected them on the construction site, between lifts.
Sometimes it would be days between lifts,
So he filled time collecting bottles.
Hires, Fanta, Tab, Fresca, 7 Up, Mountain Dew,
Canada Dry
...
Emptied by men, like him, from all over.
What conversations did he have with them
When he picked up the empties.
Did he indulge? He'd have liked Vernors.
Pop bottles were as good as gold.
Large bottles, a nickel: Small, two cents.
He kept us busy, weeding, straightening nails, digging, mixing cement, building fences, painting them, and the house;
Root cellars, garages, additions;
In fair, wet, or hot conditions.
Winter had it's own cuffs.

We'd cash in the bottles at Walker Bros.
Every Sunday he'd leave for weeks,
Up North, to places like Kapuskasing and Hearst.
He must've been thinking about us up there,
Collecting our bottles,
In fair, wet, or hot conditions.
In Canada we call soda, pop, not soda pop.

To get my cousin
and his wife to a surprise
party was so fun

We made up a lie
Said we was taking them to
a boxing event

We got a cab to
a local foootball club where
all the family

was waiting with smiles
and excitement , me and my
Dean open the doors

Everyone shouted
'surprise" and took photos
My cousin cried tears

We danced all night long
Was such a lovely catch up
Lots of happiness

My cousin and his
wife are emigrating to
Spain in June this year

So a farewell it
was , family gathered to
make sweet memories

Jan's daughter bless her
had organised the party
In just three short weeks

Friends and family
from all over turned up to
show there gratitude

Me and my Dean danced
to a song called Red Red Wine
One of our favourites

Some got merry , they swayed
around nearly toppling
over , we did laugh

The food was yummy
There was carrot cake and crisps
Chicken, gherkins, rolls

Bagels and crab
sticks , lollypops and chocolate
sponge cake with icing

The laser light was fun
full of  happy faces and
bright stars in the sky

Was a lovely night
A sweet memory , one to
look back on and smile

<3
Wonderful evening one to happily remember ** :)
