When your an only child
and have a dog,
that dog becomes your best friend.
My dogs name was Trixie
a little fox terrier
who was as gentle
as a best friend could be.
We would sit underneath
the dining room table
while mom sewed, and
I would dress Trixie up
in baby clothes
and push her around
in my doll buggy.
As a best friend
Trixie just layed there
like she knew she should.
Why should she,
because I talked her into it.
Dogs understand things
more than we realize.
But....
One Christmas Eve
Trixie ate a whole bowl of
chocolate German *** Candy.
Imported from Germany
And....
She lived to wag her tail for us.
that candy had real *** in it.
She wagged her tail, and staggered
as she walked.
Trixie never chewed up things,
or bothered anything,
but...
it was Christmas Eve
and I think that the devil
told her to do it....
My best friend Trixie
lived for many, many years
and they say chocolate can
**** a dog, and certainly
*** didn't seem like it
was made for a dog.
But...
Having Trixie as my best friend
made my childhood days
really fun.
When your a child a dog is a best friend, and as a senior citizen they again become ones best friend...now my best friend is called Budy.

Marian
Your face captured my attention
And those eyes so hazel green
A quick glance to the left of my
Computer screen and I saw this
Beautiful black male cat was
Tested FIV positive
Now my heart aches--yearns for
You, my handsome boy
My heart goes out to you
I am so sorry, dear one
That it had to be this way
Tears clog my eyes and sobs
Fill my throat
My heart is pounding in my chest
Now I want you all the more
My trembling lips can barely even
Mouth those four whispered
Words of comfort
"I love you, Nero!"

Marian
We're cuddled up together
Your paw clings to my arm
Nails ejecting cling to my arm
"Stay with me, please"
She seems to beg
Eyes of gold look into my blue eyes
And I hurriedly let her have her way
Purring beside me
Keeping my arm warm
Leaning her head into
The warmth in the crook of my arm
She smiles her feline grin
And I gently kiss her furry head
You are like a little candle
Producing happiness and light
So curl up beside me
While I type my poetry
That I dedicate for you
Now and then stopping
Between typing words
To stroke your silky
Furry body, sweet Lady Jane

Marian
Lady Jane is sweet
Lady Jane is dear
I always like to whisper
Right into her little ear

Lady Jane is cute
Lady Jane is funny
Sometimes she'll come
And lay down on my tummy

My Lady Jane is a princess
My Lady Jane is a Queen
And her beauty even from
Great distances can be seen

My Lady Jane is a fairy
My Lady Jane is fair
And if look closely you can see
The wind blowing her silver hair

My Lady Jane will mew
My Lady Jane will purr
And in all the world
There's not another cat like her

His dog died,
and that’s all there was to it.
Except it wasn’t.
Those words in between,
the missing of a friend,
the times relived;  companion
dog that did him in.  Joyful.
Bit his heart and made him write
such words so right,
that I went home
and kissed my dog
and played with her in the garden.
And we both lay down in the dirt,
and will again tonight, and every night.
Until she sleeps.  And I with Daisy.
All because his dog died.

On Pablo Neruda's "A Dog Has Died", Poetry Magazine, February 1999.
They still follow the lizard’s motion
Her eyes a sky mirrored in ocean
My oldest mate at the kitchen door
She wants love and nothing more!

At age of six a grand old dame
Understands when called by name
Her furs are white grey fleck on head
She’s a ravishing beauty heaven made!

I still don’t know her fondness how
Sings the notes of melody’s meow
Her profound eyes they forever plead
I want your love more I don’t need!

In the morn’s hour when making tea
Her loving look births the first poetry
Tell her lips her heart’s tender purr
Love me a little don’t keep me far!

When I pour her morning’s due
Croon her name to give her the cue
Blue ocean’s eyes in gratitude say
Love me a little I’ll make your day!
For Marian
Fluffy kitten love smitten fighting over milk
Itching finger on them linger cuddly glossy silk
Ocean blue eyes love undisguised seven heaven’s glow
Oh God be broad see they do not quickly enough grow.

On the cushion mischief mission ripping pillow part
Though it demand can’t raise hand cruel is not heart
Indulgent look mildly rebuke faked in anger’s voice
Watching them mad in game is heavenly rejoice.

One on other sister brother dizzying somersault
If the vase is broken surely not for their fault
Sing lullaby show the TV sleep is far away
Make the pretense all nonsense but a playful day.

Again a boy lovingly toy tender tiny paw
They’re too smart never do hurt haven’t grown a claw
Frolic funny keep time runny feel the silence deep
Comes when night robs the delight weary bodies sleep.

You are my beautiful sweet feline friend
Without you life would be dismal and grey
You are the spark of life that doth descend
For God had sent you from Heaven that day
You are the one that keeps me company
Even though you are so very afraid
Without you I would cry so dismally
For with God's own hands you were shaped and made
You dance and waltz inside my dreamy head
You're like a Fairy sprinkling Fairy dust
You gingerly leap upon my soft bed
You play a Harp because I know you must
Little Buttercup, you are my blessing
Now raise your head and to me sweetly sing

*~Marian~

Dearest,
I'm breathless.
You amaze me
Time and time again
By how beautiful you are.
And I keep asking myself this;
Are you really, really, here with me?
Are you never, ever, going to leave me?
Will you stay here, stay by my side forever?
Will you be my friend, as long as we'll live?
I'll cheer you up, as you'll cheer me up.
I'll guide you along as you'll guide me.
We'll be together through thick and thin,
We'll keep going and show them
We're good for each other.
You're the very best,
the most wonderful
Puppy ever.

Cats and dogs are cute little things
Mice and rodents love to play
Fish are not very active
Mice love to scramble
Bats and owls love to fly
These are some pets we love today

Kitty

He wishes to die
As he screams to the sky
With hatred in his voice
And hurt in his eyes

So close yet so far
I want to kiss the scars
That scatters his body
And leaves him marred

I want to protect his heart forever
And keep it but let it go, never
Mend the wounds inside
And make him feel better

Kyleigh Anne
There she lay with her body uneven
she found comfort in the sunlight
sweet orange and brown fur a mess
from the playing the day before this
residing on the back of the couch
her favorite place to lay
mistake me not for she is not a cat
but a dog I can assure you that
the sweetest of pups that I know
I could never ever let her go
Bella Jane is my baby
absolute favorite lady
ears are floppy
snout so scruffy
eyes a beautiful brown with a touch of orange
she is my doggy in the window
my sweet young Bella Jane
is never ashamed
for she is unique
now that is what makes her so sweet
There might be quite a few poems about my favorite dog. She is just the greatest pup in the world. :)

Kyleigh Anne
Her eyes green and so bold
she was peering out the window
watching, waiting
so majestically she sat with her tail hanging low
ears were ready to listen
fur was slightly flustered
as she was watching, waiting
the colors intertwined in her fur
gray, black, orange, beautiful
so old and yet so small
she surly is the best kitty of them all
Sassy Elizabeth is the meower I know
for she is my cat in the window
Watching my cat Sassy made me wanna write something for my cute kitty. :)
