I have a Friend
And he has Me
We met right here on HP
He is noble and strong
A good man, through and through
Humble, insightful and gentle too

Complex stories he does tell
From experience and diaries
kept so well
Extraordinary accounts, he shares
Creating poetic stories
that shows he cares
He's witty and charming
He is oh so brave
Many a life has he saved

He came to Hp
wondering if this
was a place for him
Safe to share his heart
and tender skin
At first, shy and tenuous
to learn his skill
Now he commands his work,
Weaving words at will
Our fascination he does hold
With gritty stories so well told
Epic adventures, first hand accounts
Alway a moral, insight abounds

Yes, I chose him
And he chose Me

There was a monkey on my back
So often, would he plan attacks
And almost every time would grin
For I kept that simple sin

A ***** rotten nasty habit
In Great Britain called a ******
Caused me stress and some should know
Gave my clothes a few burnt holes

Here I am now, way past forty
Don't care if I'm looking portly
For the urge to eat is better
Then more burn holes in my sweater

More than a year now that I'm free
That little monkey can't hold me
I never get the urgency
To run and light that nicotine

I'm better off now, that I'm free
And this I truly do believe
The devil hid beneath a tree
His name was Sir Walter Raleigh

Today
is
a,
nihilistic
dawn.
Do not say,
you haven't been warned.
At the crack of sunlight,
dead of the night.

The cats come out to play.

Relentless,
little,
***** cats,
******* up my habitat.
Wide eyed,
wide awake,
for heavens sakes,
give me a break,
How much more,
can I take?

*I knew I should of bought a snake.

A pumpkin scared the moose
That's why he was on the loose
But Arthur caught the beast
And made him the Thanksgiving feast

My 8 track tape is now a museum piece, **** carpet is a health hazard now. No one knows what disco is, and bell bottoms are back in style. Life revolves in a circle. Some things that were old are new. Once I could read the album print, not I need glasses to see the news. I have slowed down as of late, a trampoline is an enemy of the state. If I am not 30 minutes early, then I consider myself to be late. Everyone is driving too fast, and music is now too loud. I'm not sure what blue tooth is, I think I will ask my doctor the next time my yearly check up comes around. I hear about mp3 but I am not sure what movie rating that is. Jokes I still think are funny, just annoy and embarrass  my grand kids. Loafers are fashionable and I don't have to bend over and tie my shoes. Elastic in my pants is welcome when ever I want to breathe. I seldom have time to watch t.v. since I spend all day watching what I  eat. I have come to a fore drawn conclusion that I must admit, I am old I think.

Is it true that opposites attract?
She liked fantasy, he liked fact,
She liked green beans, he liked peas,
She liked chicken, he liked cheese,
She liked champagne, he liked port,
She liked lazy, he liked sport.
She liked new cars, he liked wrecks,
She liked cuddling, he liked ***,
She liked cookies, he liked cake,
She liked real and he liked fake.
She liked daytime, he liked night,
She liked to make up, he liked to fight.
She liked sweaters, he liked coats,
She liked airplanes, he liked boats,
She liked poetry, he liked prose,
She liked tulips, but he gave her a rose.
She said, “Stay.”, and he said, “Go.”
He proposed and she said, “NO!"
He left with dignity still in tact -
So much for opposites attract!

Sammy Turpin one fine day
Took his go—cart out to play.

While speeding quickly down a hill
A passing fly his eye did fill.

He couldn’t see two yards ahead
And landed in a hospital bed.

The nurse was very sympathetic
The fly was extremely energetic.

The doctor came with his stethoscope
But it wasn’t long before he gave up hope.

The consultant came to get it out
But he was never in there with a shout.

Just then the gardener passing by
Raised his leaf blower to the sky.

The air came in just like a rocket
And blew the fly from Sammy’s socket.

l He isn’t the gardener anymore
He’s chief consultant on ward four.

I've been sifting through
the scrawls and scribbles
written on some whim

passed by, not followed up
like lights that shine too dim

anyone can write a poem
it seems innate somehow
anyone can write a poem
except for me right now
you just did x
thank you Sonja, guess so :)
