Art
Bennett's-Words Jul 2016
Art
they say art should be "nice",
and that it can be,
but there's much more to art,
than what you can see;

there is no right or wrong,
art is meant to speak,
to stir up curiosity,
cause creativity to leak;

so next time someone tells you,
"art is there to admire",
look to them and say,
"no, art is to inspire"
inspired by the Eleanor and Park quote

I Know
Bennett's-Words May 2016
Tear-stained cheeks
Blood red eyes
Tired of secrets
Tired of lies

I thought life
Was hope, love and laughter
But now I know
There's no easy happily ever after

Okay
Bennett's-Words May 2016
I wonder
How many times
      the phrase
                  "I'm okay"
                       Has been spoken
                           With a broken spirit,
                                  bloodshot eyes,
                                     and quivering lips
Probably a lot more than not

Broken
Bennett's-Words May 2016
Lurking in the dust
           Shattered memories of love
                             A love lost with time

Light
Bennett's-Words May 2016
It pierces the darkness
Shatters the grey
Brings in hope and happiness
Turns the night to day

Fear and sadness tremble
For lo they rule the night
They lose all hold and power
In the dawn of morning light

True Friends
Bennett's-Words May 2016
True companions are a treasure
Worth more than silver or gold
They're filled with love and laughter
And are glorious to behold

Perfection
Bennett's-Words Apr 2016
What defines perfection?
Why is it so "great"?
What makes it so desirable?
Why a source of hate?

For me, perfection is different
In every human being
The sparkle in their eyes
When they talk about meaning

I'll take imperfection
If it means we're not the same
I'll love my flaws and faults
Even when others deem them "lame"

So love your flaws and faults
Your scars and your past
And wait for someone to come
Who loves you for you at last

The Girl In The Magazine
Bennett's-Words Apr 2016
I wonder how it would be
If all of us could see
The tears that hide, behind the eyes
Of the girl in the magazine
The one that yearns
For us to glean
That she is more
Than the girl in the magazine
She has thoughts
And feelings too
And longs for love
As most people do
But she's told by others not to worry
And not to get in such a flurry
For things come easy to a tiny waist
And girls that have a pretty face
Maybe we should learn to look
At people without a glare
Maybe looking at people closer
And giving a good stare
Perhaps then we would see the truth
In the eyes of society's deemed
That there's no such thing as a perfect life
And nothing is what it seems
A different perspective

Moving
Bennett's-Words Apr 2016
Being torn away;
         ripped away from what is known
To come to a place of refuge;
                         a place of love and peace
To find love and happiness;
                               to make my heart full
God's providence brought me here;
           God's plan has brought me home

— The End —
