hope
i started writing a poem about you
the words were ropes wound tight around my hands
but the ship was sinking.
so i cut the ties
the knife slipping and slicing cuts in my hands
and i let go
before i too became a wreck
Be you black
Be you white
We are all one

Be you pink
Be you brown
We are all one

Man is man
No matter his colour
No matter his tongue

I didn't want to be mature for my age.
I wanted to be a kid.
I have kissed boys

Girls

People in between

But lately I have been kissing bottles

Their lips are colder than yours

But slowly I have realized that the pounding headache when I wake is less hurtful than the shattering in my chest

Yet as these toxins rush through my veins

I can't help but miss the tracing of your fingers along my skin

Miss the numbness of the world when you lie with me

But when I wake I remember that a headache is treated with an aspirin

While heartache

Well if you have a cure for Heartache let me know

you inhale tragedies
and exhale poetry
From where do you get your perseverance?

dear angel,
i've been meaning to ask
how do you survive
in this hate-filled world?
