Does anyone belong in this age?
The 21st Century hi-tech stage,
Teaching old dogs new tricks,
All technology's deep magic,
Hey, juniors, cut us some slack,
How did we pass high school's flack?
We had no internet to hack,
Not one calculator in our backpacks!
We had to use our brains for Maths.....
Now it's the 21st Century age,
We're all hi-tech citizens on this stage..........
Feedback welcome.

I'm afraid common sense,
Sadly, has died
Invitations were sent,
But very few replied
It was even announced,
In the papers, on the news
I guess everyone was too busy,
With Donald Trump interviews
Mysterious, I think
That the day of the inauguration,
Common sense met,
Its final destination
Well, I really do wish I cared whom this offends. Sadly, I do not.

At first you want stuff,
set goals, nothing is enough.
You see things you don't own,
wonder how they got there,
how it could have grown.

You're there now, don't care, now,
you thought you needed,
safely conceeded
and admit,
this is not where you want to sit.

You leave it, left it, gone, it's tough,
you feel so small and all is rough,
romanticize the whole,
only see the good parts
forget the reasons you left.

The only thing you have is safety
because this place is predictable,
this phase is not going to change,
right here, you're in control.
The hard part isn't getting over,
time will help you leave the rover,
it's actively deciding to make things happen.

Narrow focus, looking too closely
makes you miss out on things,
takes away your wings,
reduces chances, oblivious to glances.

Widen, don't expect it all,
open, don't be afraid to fall.
This fear is not a cure but a cause.
It makes you reconsider,
uncertain, unsure, you pause.

Get out there, don't forget,
just do things, learn, accept regret,
get out there, live as all, not knowing what you want to be.
Explore, you don't have to be sure,
adventure, growing, striving, pure
attitude, luck and gratitude
for all you took for granted
while you laid there, hopelessly, falsely endorsed
fearfully, pathetically wanting
things from others who aren't to be forced.

For god's sake, man, be fearless for a while,
hone your style, wear your smile
only when true. Roll with the punches,
take the kicks, all you need to do is
you.
Stop that,
I used to
but I don't want to
anymore
Another step
well done.
Finally knowing, understanding,
in a while, they'll say:
"He stuck the landing."
That won't matter though,
you're the only one who has to know.

-I know it's not well written, (or tl;dr)
I just had to get the message through.

Every day
is another gap,
another broken line to trace
divided by your footsteps
while fading away.

Humans are stupid
Foolish creatures.

We destroy in order to create,
And we create to live vicariously,
And ultimately to destroy.

But there are some good things,
Some good parts,
To us.

Some of us care too much,
Love too much,
Want to help
Just a little too much.

And we end up
Destroying ourselves
But we love with everything we are,
So we give with everything we are
And we can only hope
To actually be the good
We want to see in the world.

There is a light within our eyes
That is only seen in the darkest of nights,
And it guides us home,
It guides us home.

I want to be the good
That they want to see in the world,
If not for me
Then for everyone after me.

And there is a light in our eyes,
That is only seen in the darkest of nights.
And it guides us home,
It guides us home.
Most humans drink coffee and wine
They consume television and mainstream novels
They feed their souls with popularity contests and safe relationships

But poets
We could not survive without passion, intensity, and meaning
Everything we feel is felt to the depths of our souls
We are the ones to put into words the unspeakable pain of heartbreak
The incomprehensible joy of falling in love
We are the ones brave enough to say out loud the diaries of a thousand souls

Us poets
We drink tea and whiskey
