Spontaneous Love
Jason Theodoroff Oct 2023
Here I go again searching for a friend
Looking for someone to recommend
Someone to help me progress in life
Maybe this person could end up my wife

I’ve been looking and hoping to no avail
I feel I need a partner to help me prevail
Maybe I’ll find her or maybe I won’t
My dreams are beginning to feel remote

I’ve got to have faith is what everyone says
Just my luck I run into my friend Suarez
He tells me he knows of a perfect match
Almost like a winning ticket I don’t have to scratch

Her name is Becky I say to myself with a smile
I can’t wait to meet her, I haven’t felt love in awhile
She arrives at my house as quiet as a mouse
I feel really confident that she will be my spouse

MICHIGAN FOOTBALL POEM
Jason Theodoroff Oct 2020
My best friend Finnigan said it would come down to a close call
We tried to get some fishing in before the maize and blue windfall
Instead we made dip chicken hoping the blue comes out like a cannonball
Waiting for the great Joe Milton to lead the band at the U of M dance hall
Being a fan I helped Finnigan load the van so we didn’t have to stall
And we darted like a spring chicken so we could finish above them all
And arrive at the University of Michigan to see some good ol’ football
Because being at the game again we can cheer our favotite Harbaugh

Growing Older
Jason Theodoroff Sep 2020
I always thought time went by slow
It felt like my first 30 years took 60 years
Everything just felt like it moved at a snail’s pace
I wanted to be older so bad that I dreamt about it every night
But once I eventually hit 30 time feels like it is in hyper speed
Before I knew it I looked at my license and it said I was 38
I hope the next time I glance at my I.D. I’m not 40
Because being over the hill is not promising
It just means that I’m growing older

Red Pen
Jason Theodoroff Sep 2020
Why does red always have to be the neglected pen color
It’s such a bright vibrant color but no one wants to use it
People need to know that red is powerful
But also passionate and beautiful
You need not fear the red pen
Instead of seeing danger we need to see love
Because isn’t love what we all look for
And seeing red will now only mean love
We can save the red pen

CAN'T WALK ALONE
Jason Theodoroff Oct 2023
All I want is to be able to walk without fear
Walking my route without having to veer
Will I fall and be able to survive
Maybe next time I'll just have to drive

Needing help walking I never did think

But now I'm not confident I need to talk to my shrink
Fearing l'll fall has brought me to the brink
Staying happy and healthy are feelings I'll need to link

Surviving so much always makes me feel strong
Making everyone happy I don't want to do wrong
Falling hurts almost like getting hit with a prong
I hope next time I walk I won't feel like a ding-****
Jason Theodoroff Sep 2020
It’s getting colder as the months go by
Figuring where I’m going is quite a surprise
The days are shorter and long nights only incise
That the end of the year is coming so we need to arise
And move forward with purpose so we don’t chastise
Any sorrows of our past can’t prevent the apprise
Greatness is coming so we can’t afford to downsize
Our beliefs about our achievement are already authorized
Changing weather and times are here to lionize
That we are survivors as my poem helps symbolize

Not All Heroes Wear a Cape
Jason Theodoroff Sep 2020
Superman is not coming so let’s end the debate
Heroes are those that give their all so we can escape
Looking amongst us I see them using medical tape
They are fixing and bringing everyone back up to shape
Because Covid has brought pain to every race
Scientists are developing a treatment so we can reshape
And bring in the light so we can open the drape
To expose everybody and show our new landscape
Our Pastors are preaching so our hopes are a gape
We finally get relief and we can let our lives take a new shape
And realize that not all heroes wear a cape

Too Honest
Jason Theodoroff Aug 2023
You lied and lied and lied
Good luck trying to hide
I have faith that you will have to abide
To the best of your ability you’ll try to divide

The country can’t handle what you’re trying to do
Knowing how you think you are planning a coup
Don’t release your people to attack as a troop
After all of your antics we need to regroup

The pain that you’ve caused will take time to dissipate
We will go on in our lives hoping not to replicate
The need to be one people has never carried as much weight
The day that you disappear is going to be so so great

My Vacation
Jason Theodoroff Apr 2023
As I sit by the Gulf thinking of when I have to say goodbye
The breeze hits the beach without even a try
The soft waves are rolling up onto the beach
I sit on the shore ******* the sun up like a leech

I’ve only got one more full day after this
Enjoying the sun I feel I’m living in bliss
Not a cloud in the sky for as far as I  can see
Vacationing in Florida really makes you feel free

Returning to Michigan is an inevitable  choice
Coming home is almost as sad as losing my voice
Better days are part of my upcoming destination
Being happy and content will be by final migration

Persevere
Jason Theodoroff Oct 2020
The whole world is going through a struggle
Everything that’s progressing is making us juggle
Our goals moving forward we will have to shovel
And hope, where we place them, will lead to no trouble
Because one day we will escape from this oversized bubble
To then move out and solve life’s puzzle
Clean our face to remove any stubble
For we will learn to persevere through all of the rubble
When we finish this challenge we will leave no room for rebuttal
My poem about persevering through struggle

Where I am...
Jason Theodoroff Sep 2020
One day I’ll wake up and know where I am
I’ll be able to see what I’m doing and what for
Every day I wonder what I’m going to do for work
Eventually I’ll come to a conclusion that’s best for me
Will it be a spot where I’ll see lots of people and do lots of things?
Or will I be by myself working in a small room feeling lonely
I don’t want to feel lonely, I want to be happy
Doing work that I enjoy while I help other people better themselves
Hopefully I can find that desired profession that I’m qualified for
Because until I find that job I’ll forever be questioning where I am

Wandering Mind
Jason Theodoroff Sep 2020
The anticipation is growing
I’m so looking forward to showing
What I created knowing
That they will be excited floating
The idea of me going out and posing
The work I finished roaming
My minds hallways bestowing
How I’m always exploding
And leaving my mind unloading

Where to go
Jason Theodoroff Sep 2020
I ponder where I’m going
Always looking but never showing
Up to where I need to go I keep blowing
My chances of finding it are plateauing
I need to get there without owing
My life savings can’t keep growing
If I keep lowering my blade for mowing
My destination will never be visited allowing
The past demons to keep vowing
To stop me from peacefully bestowing
My final destination is cowing

Something to say
Jason Theodoroff Sep 2020
I wake up every morning with thoughts on my mind
How will I work to improve and benefit mankind
I know that one day I’ll awaken without being quarantined
And I’ll feel so much better and won’t be maligned
To think that everyone has gone crazy and everything is unrefined Because the world has returned to the right state of mind

Miracle
Jason Theodoroff Sep 2020
I made it through another day
For once I didn't feel I had to pray
Everything in front of me looked so gray
But then I really focused on what I had to say
And I could see I had to take it all the way
I know it might seem a little cliche
That my life would end up on a raceway
But I need to finish this race to get my payday
And to sip on a big glass of fruit puree
Maybe then I'll get to experience a miracle someday

New Year New Us
A new year has finally arrived
It magically appeared without even a try
Looking back at 2023 its time to say goodbye
2024 is here we needn’t let out a sigh
I hope everyone can be happy and have dry eyes
That point seems obvious I don’t need to advise
Loving your neighbor is noble
I hope to take that statement global
Kindness is needed I hope you can see
If I have to shout it I’ll climb up a tree
If you can live in this world without causing a strife
You’ll know that your heart will appear larger-than-life

Cold Season
Jason Theodoroff Sep 2020
The days are getting shorter just like my anticipation for the colder season. Cold season brings cold thoughts to my mind. I tend to spend more time thinking about the circumstances of my life that I don’t enjoy. I’ve already felt isolated due to this coronavirus, now I can add cold weather to the reasons for not seeing the people I yearn to see. I need to be around others in order to feel happy. I’m hopeful I’ll be able to see my friends in the flesh soon. Fingers crossed that this isn’t a long season.

My Happiness
Jason Theodoroff Sep 2020
Oh Happiness you mean so much to me
You open my eyes to the beauty of the world
You make me smile even when I'm feeling down
You bring people into my life to fulfill me
You truly are my favorite emotion
Thank you happiness for making me happy

Peace & Good Will
Jason Theodoroff Sep 2020
The whole world is craving a feeling that will take lots of skill
It feels like to reach this we must climb up a hill
But knowing the journey will take lots of skill
We must enter this conquest without worrying about the bill
Because there is no price too great to achieve the thrill
Of living in a world full of peace & good will

Champion
Jason Theodoroff Sep 2020
Ever since I awoke from a coma I’ve been questioning myself
Will I be able to drive or get a bachelors degree
My injuries have prevented me from driving but thankfully
I was able to obtain an associates degree
Because my memory doesn’t always fail me

I had a dream to be just like Peter Jennings
But unfortunately life events got in the way of that
I’ve since changed my goal for employment
I want to do great things but I don’t have to be the star
Because being content works just fine for me

Today is the day I have decided to change my mind for good
I will be happy no matter what may occur
Even if that brings challenges I will succeed
Making it this far shall not be forsaken
Because I am alive and I am a champion
