Like wine,
Poets age with every year

Tattered labels stained,
vintners unclear

Bordeaux, Merlot, or Cabernet,
words mellow in the dark

Where time ferments a riper day
—its richness to impart

She is such a pretty girl
With such a pretty smile
Everyone loves the way
Her lashes curl

She's got ribbons in her hair
And a ring in her navel
Why she even has on
Matching underwear

Her look is smart
Her scent a distraction
Her Instagram pictures
Are a qualified thing of art

But here's the rub
Despite all the bells & whistles
The girl is a chocolate-box
An attractive cover

That will knock your socks off
Yet, there's nothing inside
She's absolutely empty
You'll discover

i still remember the way that
i felt when i realized you were
just another name on a long list
of those that came before you,
the ones that meant more to me
than you ever could

You are like chocolate
But much better
You are like a drug
But much more addictive
Your eyes are like sea
But much warmer
You are my dream
But not my reality
