maybe just a little line
right beneath your pulse
and mine
like
“i wanted to say this sooner,”
or
“you looked so beautiful
yesterday, at noon, or”
i forgot the time.

maybe
“i fell for you on a thursday,”
even if i don’t quite recall the day
or what you wore
but i remember your smile
and i stayed a while.

i’d write it small, just in case
you glance down
and find my place
a little note you didn’t miss,
a love letter,
on your wrist

and if you ever wash it off,
i wouldn’t mind.
some words
don’t need to stay
to stay.

I do not speak
from the mountaintop.

I speak
from the valley I learned
to survive.

I sat where you sit.
I doubted as you doubt.
And still
I’m here.

Not fixed.
Not fearless.
But faithful
to the journey.

So tell me your pain.
I won’t run.
I have heard
its voice before.

And I'm cold in my bed
Tired
Pillow covered in tears because that's where they're used to falling
And I just want to be loved

And I know I am by my friends
And my family
But I want to be stuck in someone's head
And I want them to rub my arm and make me a little bit less cold
And maybe have my tears land on their shoulder instead

I want to be the poem and not the poet for once

Grown ups are liars and kids know

We told them we had to protect them from the world

But the world is us

And it is no place for our kids

Can't get this page to fill
This pen is bleeding white noise

Creators are made off their failures
And achy finger joints

I'm digging untill my back breaks
Silence I won't accept

I promise
Next time I'll feel the words
I'll write
If they return

I saw myself in the distance,
In a daze,
I tried to get to me,
But I got lost in the haze.

I lay here
Staring at the stars
As I wave goodbye

Since you left me here
Wondering why

Somewhere in your soul
I saw where the ocean
Reflects the sky

As well as the beauty
Of the earth
In your eyes

But I don’t
Have to lay here
Wondering why

I can just enjoy
The comets
Passing by

I’d like to believe
I’ve seen the world
At its best

In the flickers
Of love
Despite
The distress
Found this in a collection of notes.
