I'm standing close by a river of rhyme,
where words cascade, in endless pantomime,
each line is a ripple, on the rugose water's crest,
but the chaotic current seems a randomized mess.

I see waves of words riding swells of sonnet,
into concrete verse, only to crash upon it.
There are dark plaintive whirlpools of elegy
and swirling haikus kissing off sharp envoi.

This river of rhyme could wash me away,
with its desperate currents of poetic dismay.
Its sensual verses can become a toxic wine,
oh, God, don’t let me drown in the river of rhyme.
BLT Marriam Webster word of the day challenge: Plaintive: full of sorrow and suffering
It costs nothing to smile
but a kind heart.
It costs nothing to pull someone up ,
when he is down
but a reaching hand.
It costs nothing to share the love
you have inside
to see one as they are
as we are.
Effortless!
Warm embrace.

Smile, love, care
It will make you happy.
The only thing permanent
about peace
—is impermanence

~
In the mist of late night solitude,
                 from a mislaid plateau,
with a suitcase full of sparks

She observes constellations
        reflected as little needy eyes,
                        peering down at her

They could be midnight directives,
       postcards from distant nebula
                            suspended in gaffa

       "Ne t'enfuis pas..." She exhales

Still she wonders:

will her children grow to love
          their perfect machines more
                                    than they love
                  their imperfect mother?

"Ne t'enfuis pas" is a French phrase which means "don't run away"

How will change
Will ever come
Without purpose
How will purpose
Ever be realized
Without strategy
How will strategy
Will ever impact
Without endurance
I’ve watched the
Indignation and
Rhetoric concerning
The rampant injustice
Facing many in the world
Wane in the past
Hour
In the past
Day
In the past
Week
In the past
Month
In the past
Year
In the past
Decades
I’ve worked
In many places
Where the injustice
Is so horrifying
That there are no words
To qualify it
I’ve seen people
Bear up under
Horrific persecution
Even to death to affect
Change and hope
For freedom
Do our tv really
control the level
Of our conviction
Do the powers that
Be really have that
Kind of sway over
Our passion
By all means have
The purpose of true
freedom for all
But please I beg you
Have the strategy and
Do not diminish
The purpose by flailing
About with no directions
Having purpose and strategy
Understanding we’re against
A system that has controlled
Indoctrinated And victimized
For Well over a century
It won’t be easily overthrown
You must have endurance
Let your hearts swell with
Freedom and don’t stop
Until we realized that
We are free but we ain’t free at all.
