Trying to recover from the Flu
There is so much yet that I have to do
I have midterm tests coming up
Doctor ordered rest
Feeling some stress
My apartment's becoming a mess
Trying to do my best
In my yearning to become a good learner
Unfortunately poetry has taken a back burner

Mother nature has a cold
Mother nature has a cold that fact is getting old
Mother nature is getting moody
She gladly shared her cold with Jack Frost and assigned him some of her duties
He soon became mad and dumped some frigid temperatures on the Northern States
When he found out that the North is used to the cold temperatures
He thought it would be fun to send some snow to the Southern states
He watched the people scratch their heads wondering how to deal with this unexpected surprise, with a hint of mischief in his eyes
Mother nature has a cold I hope she gets better soon
Mother natures cold is making me wish for the month of June
I am sick with the Influenza and thought of this, maybe this one was Fever inspired
Hope you like it anyway

The night is silent and still
except the creatures are stirring
of their own will
The snow bunny peeked out of his nest
started hopping he is growing tired of his long
winter's rest
The squirrel is stealing all the birds food
putting the birds in a questionable mood
Still to me it feels peaceful and calm
I feel like singing some random song
I imagine joining a heavenly throng
The night is silent and still
at least for the moment
I will enjoy it one minute at a time

We crumble and fall
While trying to prove we're alright
We live behind a wall
Because we're scared of the outside
We breath in our tears
So we can smile
We name others as fake
To replace the name
We're taught to fight
And we forget to love
Only as we die
Do we learn to live
Because living is less accepted
Than to merely exist
And living is just the start
To defying this game
Because to live as we want
We have to rewrite the game

I want to live on Sugar Mountain
Where life is syrupy sweet
With Candy cane trees and Chocolate fountains
All the sweet treats you care to eat

I'll hike the trails of Candy buttons
Supporting myself with a Pixie stick
Being careful of the sugar muffins
So that I don't stumble over and trip

I'll fish the day away in Vanilla lake
Throwing back all that I catch
So that it keeps the lake churning and sweet
Swimming free the Swedish Fish

I'll slide down Lemon drop hill
With my friends the Gummy bears
Later we'll try our luck on Licorice Stilts
All sporting wigs of Cotton candy hair

As the sky grows a Dark Chocolate evening
We'll lay our heads down on soft bubble gum
All the while asleep and dreaming
Of the sweet days that are yet to come

Living a life on Sugar Mountain
Where all is syrupy sweet
With Candy cane trees and Chocolate fountains
And all the sweet treats you care to eat

After all these years
of having pen in hand
Being high on ideas
and low on demand
Writing the same lines
over again and again
Throwing in a new noun
where an old verb had been

There's nothing new
under the sun
The sky is still blue
the North has still won
I still talk with a draw
before I've even begun
In the spitting of words
where I'm just having fun

Never had any problems
deep in my soul
Where the dark side of me
takes over control
A Pulitzer prize
has never once been my goal
I just like to rhyme
with the stories I've told

So if you'll please pardon me
as I get back to my pen
I feel another poem
is trying to let itself in
Like every other time
this is how it begins
After all these years
of having pen in hand
