Mirror, mirror on the wall
tell me is he handsome is he tall?
Will he be all that I dream?
This knight of mine
Or should I heed?
Will you reflect the things in me,
Qualities, I wish in he?
Help me see the flaws within
That keep me shadowed and shut within
Help me mirror, open my eyes
To the bonds that chain me, help me break the ties
Mirror, mirror on the wall
Help me find me, before I fall
Will he have a heart like mine?
One that's stitched, but love that shines?
Will he be kind and patient with me?
Because we both know what a handful I can be
Will he see what I do, to show him I care?
Watch me while I sleep, and play with my hair?
Mirror help me to fix all blocking my way
From having the man of my dreams one day.

our mothers tears fill a hospital ward
as a doctor summons the Chaplins call
last rites administer to this tiny newborn
thrice in five days you're destined to fall
born with a hole in such a delicate heart
yet no doctor nor cleric could recognise
this was to allow the world seep through
a shining eighth wonder of pale blue eyes
held on the sill outside a neonatal room
i saw with my soul a love birthed anew
dad he promised that you'd be home soon
there to the years of childhood we grew

the time had come for mam to say to me
sister was different in other ways as well
not for you was destined a desk at school
nor books would you read nor stories tell
innocence of the pure and purity of truth
special she said born of down syndrome
and yet would i never once see you down
for your smiles to me evoke only wisdom
now as you pass over your fortieth year
my sister i cherish all that we hold dear
for you are a family's jewel in it's crown
raising a world from love handed down
for my sister Siobhan, a shining eighth wonder of pale blue eyes
Dishes served full are well laid on the table
prawns are glittering adornments
though only yesterday
their tentacles were tasting the river
not knowing they would be in another water
in the river of saliva
grinded and pulped for a tasty moksha.

The rain falls unabated from last night.

Who'll go out to feed?, asks a voice.

Does never being hungry feel the same stress
as being hungry most of the time?

The answer is in the clouded eyes
watching the eyes
joyful for one more chance.

Lasting longer than I thought

With magnificent indifference
The world swirls and eddies
And life ebbs and flows
Around my crusty head
But still this radiant illusion
Springs eternally hopeful
And leads us by the nose

Times of mysteries past flow
As the northern rain washes the days away
Into slick and glimmering colours
Without earthly reason
And this late in the season
Daffodils fade and die
And butterflies won't fly
In an awkward silent stillness

                                   By Phil Roberts
Just keep on trying
Do not ever give up
Continue to have faith
Reach for the top
Believe that you can do it
Let the battle challenge you
Show them that you have the fire
Shine your light right on through

Grey and sodden clouds cry
From my north-western sky
Where I used to fly with satellites
Before I was stuck at traffic lights

I'm pretending that I'm sane
With a bandage around my brain
Pretending that I'm whole
With sutures in my soul

Tight and screaming reins
Hold the prophets in my veins
Aquarius turns again
Again and yet again

Listening to
a cacophony
of sounds

joyful
symphonies

warm sweet air

late bloomers arriving
others on the bye

bees and butterflies
at home
harmoniously

drifters
faded leaves
wafting
gently

just for a moment
a quiet
stillness

nature smiles

all sweetness
and peace.

When we wake up in the morning
on the other side.
The long night has ended
in Him we will abide.
He will carry us through the darkness
into the beautiful light.
The rejoicing of the angels
will be an awesome sight.

When we wake up in the morning
on the other side.
Where no more pain or sorrow
in Him we will abide.
His Love has brought us through the night
into the awesome light.
Where forever we will be with Him
In all His glorious might.

I have awaken in the morning
On the other side.
With a Joy beyond compare
in Him I now abide.
His love has brought me through the night
Into the awesome light.
Forever I will be with Jesus
What a beautiful beautiful sight.
