"retweeted" poems
I despise social media.
It's ugly, to state the obvious
Our lives are posted, retweeted, altered, reblogged, perfected, and photoshopped to exactly how we want to be perceived
We have the freedom to be exactly what they want us to be.
It starts with a few edits doesn't it,
pigmented our skin to seem smooth and sun kissed,
that would seem most acceptable right?
Maybe an extra like for the skinnier waist.
More reassurance for brighter colors.
Some more filters will hid the emptiness you feel with your friends
Another like
Flashier clothing, phones, shoes, cars, other simple words our eyes have latched on to
Another like
We urge ourselves to portray the life of leisure and effortless beauty, happiness, success,
Another like
But what are we enjoying?
Another like
Views of our changing world through a 3 by 8 view.
Another like
Events pass by swipe
Another like
and swipe
Another like
And when we managed to unlock ourselves from this grasp
We always come back
Like flies to light, more like scratches to a scab
Festering we find ourselves getting ****** back in
To an imaginary world, that if destroyed, would have no physical effects on their fictional beings
For without this world, maybe eyes will open
We will step past the boundaries,
and start to love our beings

im done learning a language rooted in vanity
like I need to take a selfie for my latest avi to go along with that tweet
and we're up in arms fighting, but its on the hush hush in our subtweets
thinking these anons that ask questions to boost my self security
telling friends, give me just an instant to update my insta
yeah, we're full of wit
spitting captions to gain cheap chuckles
lacing 140 characters together to make a point
less, we're spending time thinking of a cheap rhyme
while in the meantime our headlines are suffering from the lack of attention
because if one more ******* person tells me they're gaining fame
online
with meaningless angles, and pop culture retweeted
im going to lose my ******* mind
this **** is such a waste of time
this shrine made up of the kind of things you call mine
and we're washing out the brilliant minds
that are taking the time
to tell you something worthwhile
we're using a shovel as a ***
and plowing this tool into the ground
when artists all around are trying to dig through the ********
just to show you
that somethings are actually worth noticing

I cried when Barack Obama left office, and I cried for Joe Biden too, as though I'd lost parents of mine,
But Mike Brown and the others had it coming, they were probably resisting arrest,
So love me, love me love me, I'm a liberal
I go to pro choice rallies and I chant about female anatomy,
I retweeted a #blacklivesmatter tweet once, I think that's just as good as a protest
But don't talk about revolution, that's going a little bit too far
So love me, love me love me, I'm a liberal
I cheered Bernie on the whole way, but eventually settled on Clinton,
I would do anything for free healthcare and education, as long as my taxes aren't too much more
I love all the minorities too, as long as they don't move next door
So love me, love me love me, I'm a liberal
The people who voted for Trump, should all hang their heads in shame,
I can't understand where they're at, John Oliver should set them straight
But if you burn an American flag, I hope the cops take down your name
So love me, love me love me I'm a liberal
I read Huffington Post, and Rolling Stone too,
If I vote it's a Democrat with a sensible economic view,
But when it comes to rioters in the streets punching nazis, there's no one more red white and blue
So love me, love me love me, I'm a liberal
Once I was young and my heart bleeding, I bought every Coexist bumper sticker I saw,
Even marched alongside the socialists, thought I could bring the system down with the power of love,
But I've grown older and wiser, and that's why I'm turning you in
So love me, love me love me, I'm a liberal
Love me, love me love me, I'm a liberal

Jill retweeted what I wrote,
forwarding to all her friends.
Time, you thief, who loves to gloat
over hopes and bitter ends,
say my loves and lines are bad,
say that life itself defeated me,
say I'm growing old, but add,
Jill retweeted me.

What is it?
An affair between two voices.
A war between two body parts.
A battle between two conscious thoughts.
What is it?
For it does not breathe, yet it has a heart.
For it does not make sounds, but the drums hit hard.
For it is not holdable, yet it can easily break.
What is it?
It can not be traced.
It can not be mapped.
It can not be favorited, retweeted, or reblogged.
What is it?
It causes happiness, yet depression.
It causes warmth, yet bitter coldness.
It is a guiding light, yet a grim realization.
What is it? What could it be?
For researchers suggest...
It is love.
It is a dark, mysterious, risky, fragile, delicate, cliche, love between two people followed by an everlasting internal struggle.
It is love.
Love.

**** Twitter
Every time she makes a post
I feel like I'm with her
I know why you retweeted that
Yes I'm still bitter
Thank you I needed that
Sit here studying every tweet
attempting to read between the lines
like its a portal to your mind
140 characters
not enough space to speak my mine
but for you thats probably plenty
if we are being honest
like your feelings for me
you probably dont need any
Unfollow her
dont search her name
to see if she has tweeted
since you last sent a text
just leave it be
**** twitter
your just bitter
of every tweet i see
not one is about me

* I wonder what you do when you hear my name
Do you pretend it is a new name,
And go on with what you are doing
Do you think
Oh, I used to know her
She cared too much for what I thought
She could have done anything for me
she loved me*
*When you hear my name,
read an article I wrote*
*Listen to a song I hummed often
see a tweet I retweeted or commented on.
Do you miss me?
Do you wonder about me?
Do you wish you had loved me?
Is it just a reminder of how much you never cared*
Or how you'd never love me?
*When you hear my name
Do you even know or remember me*

You know what I can't stand?
What really just, beyond words, aggravates me
Maybe not even aggravates,
Maybe it's more like, it makes me so sad
Hurt, if you will
Why can't my friends look at me,
Or anyone else for that matter
Because I can tell you
The number of times you retweeted something,
The number of times you clicked like
The number of times you watched a video loop
Was a hell of a lot more than you even
Glanced anyone else's way
If friendship is so **** important,
Then is it you're holding you're phone
Closer than you ever held me?

she was a good person
who had nothing to do
with the transphobic,
in fact, she had encouraged her coworker eric
to become erica,
when erica was having doubts about having her ****
fashioned into a ****** that would grow hair on the inside
she encouraged erica to go through with the surgery
so erica could finally be who she was meant to be
she wound up pregnant, though not by pre-op erica
and though she have would have consented to lesbian *** with erica
because every good person knows that you should never
discriminate against trans erica's.
she met a guy named kyle, it was kyle who impregnated her.
a one night stand. kyle thought pregnant women were gross
and disgusting and would frequently say so in the work place
at the telecom company he worked for.
when kyle wasn't working at the telecom company, he was cutting in line at the grocery store, then filming all the women behind him who said anything about it. he would laugh at them and call them karens. "you're going to end up on youtube, karen", he would tell them.
she was grateful that they had magically found all those missing biden votes. 100% for biden. she thought of how wonderful it was that president harris cared so much for women's rights.
she considered an abortion, but kept on putting it off. as she was giving birth, she finally decided on an abortion. immediately after the cluster of cells was removed from her vaginal canal, she requested one. the doctors felt good about obliging, since they were honoring the sanctity of a woman's right to choose.
the little cluster of cells was no more.
proudly, she tweeted about the wonderful experience and had many likes. she included a picture of the before and after of the cluster of cells, which went over really well. she knew she had made the right decision when she got all those likes. a few people even retweeted. things were going to be good now. for everyone.
