"grandstands" poems
Wrenches clanging, knuckles banging A drop of blood A  new part here, and old part… there A hotrod had been built! A patchwork, mechanical, quilt I drove past the banner that said “Welcome Race Fans” Took a new route, behind the grandstands And through my chipped window, I thought I could see Some of the racers were laughing at me I guess chalky grey primer is not to their taste But I put my bucks mister in the right place I chugged-popped past cars that dealers had sold Swung into a spot, next to something old Emerging with interest from under his hood My neighbor said two words, he said “sounds good” The voice on the loudspeaker tells us we’re up Pre-staged, staged, then given the green The line becomes blurred between man and machine Bones become linkage Muscle, spring Fear, excitement Time distorts …. Color disappears … Vision narrows… Noise ---  becomes music Speed --- satisfaction

Race Day
Now the first leaves, golden, Falling, fluttering tranquilly. Breeze becomes wind, A slight chill present. Summer ending, Fall in the air, You can smell it, see it, Touch it, even taste it. Saturday, Freeway fills with cars, Flags flying, team colors displaying, Car Horns honking, people waving. Mighty Ducks are beating their wings, Getting ready, who could have known? That Ducks having no teeth, Could be so very ferocious, Tenacious, combative, thrilling. Tailgating celebrating, Throngs of laughing people, moving Pennants showing, blowing in the wind, Through the gates into the huge arena. Filling the stands, waiting spectacle’s beginning. Band blares spirited tunes, people and Students cheering, Ear splitting, the grandstands Vibrating, spines a tingling, tension mounting. Among great fan fare, the Gladiators emerge, Regaled in colorful Costumes for combat, Helmets gleaming in the sun, Muscles bulging young men strut and pose, In spirited pent up raw anticipation, Soldier-players moving now as one, As a well practiced oiled machine, Each part supporting the other.   Each knowing its own function, Resulting in precise synchronization. A time and place where boys become men. Beautiful young women, under dressed, Bosoms bouncing, pompoms waving Add to the Circus flavor of spectacle rising. Only a game? None in the bowl knows that. No one cares to think so, it is more than that, It is war, it is life, it‘s aggression without death, It is pride without regret; it is a melding of hearts, And expectations, of loyalties to a common goal, It is a Saturday in the sun and fall air, a chance to Yell and cheer for youth in flower, to feel and fear An inevitable outcome not yet predetermined. To ebb and flow all human emotions, To hopefully all, end the day a winner, Or perhaps display compassion for the looser.   To feel alive, to participate in life’s cycle of living. Football, just a game? Don’t you believe it.

my dream house you see my dream house is just by lake burley griffin and as you walk in there is a coke machine at the top of a big escalator, and at the bottom of that escalator there are two doors, 1 door is the offices where people work and on the other side there is my front door and i know it sounds like every young persons fantasy, but as you enter, it was like, well the first thing you see is the hat rack in front of the first door to the gymnasium which had a treadmill and a rower and a bike and as you walk further you enter the lounge room where there is a nice comfy corner lounge and a LED TV and a big stereo where you can listen to your favourite music and as you walk further, there is an internet station where the computer is an apple with iPads and iPhones and the internet server was iinet wireless broadband, and as you walk further on, you see the kitchen where they had a built in dishwasher and stove and fridge, and it had all the latest kitchen gadgets that money can buy, yeah that sounds so cool and it has built in hot and cold water jets as well as normal tap water, and as you walk further you see the bathroom with a shower sink and toilet with a clean air contraption, to get rid of oopsy smells, and the bedroom was right near the other side window looking over the wonderful startrack oval but i can’t see in because of the grandstands around it, and there was a walk in wardrobe which rarely got messy, and i had round the clock help with cleaning and cooking, yeah this is absolute paradise, but it will always remain just a dream house

Slip sliping away Hide away My pain At the back of My closet Dwelling in my pain All the hurt and wrong Done on to me Screeming for them to leave me be To let me be me still thankful of those who foiled my plan And boy was it grand Instead I sat in the grandstands at Contact 2013, Vancouver BC Combating a invisible disease To where everyday It’s hard to breath Still I stand tall With the ball in my court Not going to port To where attempt number 3 Takes place Instead a Near death experience at sea Thanks carnival 50 bands Taken away from me All in order to save me From myself. Thank You Chase for always being there for me in dark times. Thanks for not letting me have 50bands to just end it all with it. Thanks to you a known time and predreamt dreams all come to be and continue to do so. Thanks for showing me the lighter side of life to where every day is a good day. I love you bro, Always © Try

SLAP THE MONKEY
Some people march in a band For sports fans in the grandstands Some march in the military On bases from Hawaii to Italy Some people march to be heard Over all the events that occured And on Saturday, amongst the crowd's clatter I'm joining those who are doing the latter

I want to work at the baseball Hi everyone, it's me again, and I am telling you this You see, mate I want to work in the USA at a MLB game I don't care what match, oh no, whether it's dodgers, or Marlins Or even the New York Mets or Yankees I just want to work at the baseball, man And if I don't, I will get a little cranky I want to help out at the front gate and check tickets, yeah that's good And after the game starts, oh yeah, I want to sell ice creams Yeah that sounds so divine, and everyone will like me As I sit here waiting to sell them, oh yeah I will sell to little Timmy, and Fiona, Nicole and little baby Clare I walk up and down the grandstands saying these simple little words Ice creams, ice creams, anyone for ice creams, only $2 for 1 Kids were running all over the place, trying to buy one off me And suddenly this became very busy, I can hardly breathe After that rush I told someone, that when I die I will bring baseball to the afterlife, and any nut can play it Cause up there, we don't need food, water or worry about being fit Leave that for our earth, bodies to worry about We can fly around, from planet to planet Playing 5 hour games, and we can score very high scores And strike out a lot as well You see when Ronald Reagan died, he played baseball for Mercury And he scored 1 home run and then he was struck out ever since I also saw a baseball star, and he was ****** good He got three home runs, and then after that he struck out Their best batter they had, and after he finished doing that He went into the tent, and he arrived there When I started working there as a volunteer barman Where I will sell the beer and spirits I did that for the rest of the night Right to the stroke of midnight, and I felt so good about that, oh yeah And then our very first president, George Washington said, let me batter up, and while George was on Saturn playing baseball against Jupiter and playing well indeed, his earth body was playing at this baseball match I worked at, and Buddha made us meet, you George scored 4 home runs, and this batter scored 4 home runs, and this was the most exciting moment in my entire life And I will always say to myself I want to work at the baseball, where I can feel I can really become involved with a sport as good as this, oh yeah Sent from my iPhone

A nation grandstands glory. “Go, my son. Do your father proud.” And the son always goes. Thinking he’s nothing to offer here. When young as old envies, Charges as ordered, Rapaciously configured, “Your son died a hero, don’t you know we made him a murderer? Be proud.” And the real father weeps. Progeny wasted, To sharp blades of grass. Too sharp to leave alone On god’s green earth. Earth that eats the love of your love. Why do you let them go? Why?

Property
Set ablaze; past glories, Conquests. Thick brick walls Impenetrable sit idly by Whilst what ifs eviscerate. A kingdom built on grains and specks. Once a settlement, now ghastly; Ravaged by plaguing self-doubt, Warming, once-virginal moat breached. Back then, gauntlet raised in Defiance. Each challenged indiscretion Offering temporary relief; even Reputation. To be lauded. Now my Castle stands, Pallid, chalk-lined grandstands. Guiding past, drawbridge downed Vagrant visitors. My crown.
