Christmas is a time
When family and friends come together
We share our love and joy
With fun filled stories and laughter
We build each other up
And enlighten the day
We spread nothing but good cheer
To everyone along the way

May everyone receive the gifts of happiness and love, from the ever flowing red velvet sack of Santa

May Santa fulfil every child’s wish
Twinkling eyes, smile on the lips
Heartwarming the gifts

May everyone have their personal Santa, and
May the Santa have one too, to fulfil every wish

Papa repeats bad jokes
like a broken record, an overplayed
and under paid radio station
that forgot how many times
we've heard the same
song.

Out to eat at a fine dining
Mexican restaurant, Papa orders
a hot dog. The waiter
doesn't get it. The joke, nor the
hot dog.

Who would guess so many
bad one-liners and puns lie behind
your dark leather skin and
tired jaw? The waiter cannot tell
that buried underneath pages of wrinkles and
stoic smiles, Papa
is only joking.

Yesterday
was another land
a different language
was spoken then--

but today
a little I begin to understand
a new vocabulary has come to assuage
my mind has taken a different bent.

Rested on a Mammoth
Rock by the sea,
Watched the waves
Roam free like
Tales of
Ancient
History.
